Back at college during computing classes one of my classmates may or may not have had a bit of a laugh by using a port sniffer to find ip addresses with unsecured netbeui or netbios something shares, and a shared printer. He would find out someones name from their documents, then send a text document to their printer saying "i know what you have been up to dave smith" or whatever their name was. Would have been fun to see the reaction. I hope firewalls have come on a bit since the 90s.
It used to be reasonably easy to connect to Windows PCs registry remotely and make changes to it. Including changing the screensaver to the scrolling text to print out rude messages or changing the wall paper, or something similar.

When remote screen sharing first started rolling out you'd connect to somebody else's PC and knock the mouse slightly or press a random key when they were typing every so often.

Back at Uni I and a mate managed to blag access to the Sun Workstations as they had full internet access (this was right before Mosaic launched). Much fun was had starting the sound player on somebody else's workstation remotely after turning up their internal speaker to max. My favorite was a very loud tune played on the bag pipes when a lab technician came into the room..

The OP is clearly not impressed.

Sorry I'm old fashioned, and remember when type really was set, and had to be put away again after use!
hehe

So do I, I had an uncle who was a typesetter on the Surrey Comet. More recently, I visited Robert Smail's in Innerleithen, a fascinating place, a 'proper' printworks.: http://www.nts.org.uk/RobertSmailsPrintingWorks

best not...he might get upset if he sees this.

Funny thing is I just looked at one of his original emails with a sample flyer he said he did for another company as an example of his work, and its much more modern and doesnt have a terribly dated tacky strap line or 80s feel to it, unlike the blatant template design which he sent me.
