To be fair, the butt of an unfiltered rollie or a cigar is somewhat less offensive than a filtered cigarette butt. It's a small pinch of shredded leaves and a wisp of thin paper.
Most people that smoke roll ups do put a filter in it as well.

the are unique as the effect they have is underestimated by the users, thus chucking with inpunity, and not disposed of properly. Smart alecs underestimate the impact because they basically ignorant to it.

I hope there is a day when fags are banned and confined to smokers own homes. It just seems prehistoric considering ecigs etc now available as an alternative, the mess and crap that comes with smoking cancer sticks.

wildlife are also effected by the left over fags, nicotine is a poison.

It would be better to say they are full of toxic compounds since technicaly everything is made of chemicals.

Given that most science journals require you to buy them before you can read them I suspect you won't get the response you'd like.

Everything is made of chemicals. Including all the leaves that fall off the trees. I saw a few things on the ground in the woods the other day full of chemicals which would cause you a very nasty death if you ate one. One of the shrubs in my garden has leaves full of cyanide.

I picked up and 'returned' several fag ends back through car windows.
Me too, although mine was returned through the open roof of a convertible BMW driven by some horrible orange woman. I do hope that the white leather seats didn't get damaged.

I'm a 'reformed' smoker - gave up around 12 years ago. I now find secondhand smoke utterly repulsive; my neighbour gets up for a smoke around 7.30 every morning, just when I'm going to work. When I'm downwind, it makes me wretch! What really really fks me right off, is when people throw their butts out the window of a moving car, when I'm behind them on my bike furiousfuriousfurious First I have to breath in this carcinogenic st whilst I'm stuck behind them, & then I get a butt in my face!!! Getting a lit butt inside your visor is not fking funny furiousfurious
As for the OP: I wish more people would tell the smokers to use a fking ashtray. The stuff they put in filters does not biodegrade in any way, & makes a right mess. Would you throw any other form of rubbish on the ground like that??

I would like to do a test with a smoker. If a smoker lights up and blows smoke near my face, would they mind if I farted in theirs?

whilst i hate fag ends ( and my local court is dishing out 400+ quid fines to those who get caught ) ecigs are a problem for litter where i live. we have a brilliant ecig shop, but when people leave, what seems like half throw the empty refill bottles or the boxes they come in on the floor outside. although, it must be said that there are nowhere near enough bins on that street.
I was only thinking this morning as I saw a huge cloud of smoke billowing out of the windows of an oncoming car that a major benefit of the rise of e-cigarettes would be the reduction of fag buts thrown on the ground. Hadn't realised people would be that inconsiderate at the shops though.

I'm sick to death of people dropping lit fag ends that my dog then likes to try and eat (possibly to do with her being a beagle?) only a matter of time before she chomps on a lit one and burns herself. I was also in my girlfriends dads car once a few years ago when a lit fag end dropped by the car in front went through the grill and set fire to the dried leaves that had accumulated on the radiator, made a right stink and has caused me to make sure the rad on my car is clean ever since!
On a side note I've never not picked up my dogs waste and am disgusted by anyone who would let their dog have a st and then walk off but around our way it actually seems to be cats that st everywhere except for in their owners gardens! madsmokin

Yep Red Devil, number 1 for the worse thing pedestrians have to face is dog st followed by chewing/bubble gum, dogends although not good are nowhere near as bad as the first two.

It's "affected" and they're really probably not.

Nicotine is a stimulant. Although it comes from the Solanus family of plants (Nightshade), it's not poisonous or cancerous. Very addictive though.

or you are probably wrong, I have studied the effects on nicotine on animals, specifically mammals, and yes it does.
You probably spend your free time correcting grammar to understand it thou.

It's toxic to humans in sufficient quantities although not at the levels found in cigarettes.

Nicotine is classed as a stimulant. I'm sure there are many chemical compounds that would be toxic in 'sufficient quantities'. Not being rude but so what?
