"Ch Insp Darren Wareing, from the force's roads policing unit, said: "If you have footage from a dash cam, your pedal cycle cam or any other source that you feel supports you as a witness to an alleged motoring offence, we want to hear from you.
"Over recent months we have received footage capturing motoring offences including careless and dangerous driving, people on mobile telephones and people being distracted whilst using their smart devices behind the wheel."

oh boy are they going to regret this
the adenoidal dash cam police will be submitting ten's of thousands of offences
"you can clearly see the BMW ahead of me only indicated 9 times before pulling over, instead of 10"
"i had to accelerate to 31.5 mph to keep up with the audi in front of me, the maniac!"
"i was reading my copy of country life whilst maintaining a constant 38mph in a NSL zone when some reckless idiot dared to over take me on a 2 mile straight with no oncoming traffic"

The Police, finally, are trying to get to grips with the driving issues in Bradford- so they are welcoming such videos.
To put it into context though, they've achieved this so far:
"Meanwhile, the police’s crackdown on bad driving, which was launched on the back of the T&A’s Stop the Danger Drivers campaign, has now snared 5,225 drivers since it started in February. A total of 158 drivers were listed in the latest weekly Operation Steerside breakdown.
Their offences were: speeding, 68; not wearing a seatbelt, 56; using a mobile phone at the wheel, 11; driving without insurance, five; other, 18. The overall total for each category is: speeding, 1,845; no seatbelt, 1,796; mobile phone use, 530; no insurance, 413; other, 641."
I believe I've been to every bit of the UK just about- trust me, nowhere is as bad as the inner city for poor driving standards. It's like there is an invisible ring around the city- the moment you leave certain postcodes, everything becomes normal again.

I've already been charged with dangerous driving in said area after a citizen took offence to my driving and sent in the video. I got an NFA result which was nice. You get to learn the complainant's name if they make a statement, maybe think twice about reporting somebody if you have an unusual name.
When watching the video I pointed out how I hadn't exceeded the speed limit or veered out of my lane. The policeman told me that he could never charge me for speeding from public dashcam footage since they aren't calibrated.
Also, you couldn't see who was driving from the rear view the dashcam took (MX5 with roof down, I'm guessing it'll be even harder to identify the driver in most cases), if I had a plausible reason to not know who was driving that day I don't think I would have even had to go in for an interview at all.
It's tempting to get a dashcam and send in umpteen clips each day of careless driving, maybe bait some people so I can edit some good footage. I won't do that though, I remember how it felt when somebody did it to me.

I'm not sure what the 'context' is ... these figures aren't results from videos sent in by the public, they're from the police doing more to target ste driving as part of Operation Steerside. There aren't any figures that I can see that result from being grassed up by a civvy. The Police, finally, are trying to get to grips with the driving issues in Bradford- so they are welcoming such videos.

I might send them loads of boring clips of nothing much.
Great use of police time.
You can just point them to some of the faccebook groups for that.... I unfortunately got chucked out of one after slightly annoying one trucker who was a mod and posted a stupid video of himself diving impatiently up the inside of a driver who looked a little unsure of which direction he needed to go.Great use of police time.

We have to trust the police to distinguish between 'I didn't like being overtook by a local whilst I was on holiday and happily in a convoy of 12 led by a Stobart or Mansel Davies truck' and nailing absolute reckless drivers like in the video.
