^ Genuine question: How secure is it? For example, what happens if your car is written off or stolen while wearing the plate? How can you be certain to retain it?

rofl 2 x 2 plate bought off ebay from a guy who couldn't shift it years ago after numerous listings, with very common initials and been offered straight buys from a couple of dealers so far... I just got in before they seemed to go absolutely mental!

You could always have the best of both worlds - buy the plate as an investment, then simply keep it on retention.

As long as the MOT is valid, it can be transferred off almost instantly through the DVLA website. It is off right now as I plan to sell the Cayenne, but I could not believe the speed at which the paperwork for the retention was through. As soon as payment was made, I changed back to the old plates.

saw an old chap driving an 80's RR last week with the plate OLE 1

he had put a piece of tape ? above the E to give it the full Spanish effect. you know " ' "


I must admit it was utterly wonderful and the only distorted daft plate I've ever thought- well done !
