Might be in the minorty but completely disagree. I live in a nice newish estate and whilst most houses have a drive way for 1 car, there will always be a need to park on the road as well.

I get very annoyed when someone parks in front of my house (unless it's a neighbour obviously in which case it's fine).

It may not be illegal BUT in my opinion it is VERY discourteous. Clearly, the person that lives in that house is going to want to park there.
You're entitled to your opinion, even though it is utterly incorrect.

Hold on, he's annoyed because someone parks on his driveway then spits in his face, and that makes him a moron?
Pretty much the first words he said were "you dirty slag".

Deeply unpleasant chap.
I'd have said similar had she just spat in my face too.

Don't agree with the guys behaviour at all however, you parked there simply because you preferred it to your normal spot I think? Whereas he wants to park the because it's actually right outside his house.
Knob.

Your house purchase did not come with the road in front on the deeds did it?

So there's your answer. There is no discourtesy involved in someone parking in front of your house just because you think there is.

ETA: I live on a cul-de-sac with a fire station at the end. Parking only on one side of the road. Recently a few families have moved into the street with 3 or 4 cars each. I can fit one car on my drive and usually fit the other across the end of the drive. When someone is parked in a way that I can't do that I find somewhere else to park and use my legs, sometimes *gasp* even walking 100m. I don't own the road. Neither do you.

We have a similar problem with a neighbour opposite who has "his spot", funny thing is, it isn't even outside his house, it's outside his next door neighbour.

He also has a drive but doesn't usd it, it is used to keep a space free for one of the three occupants of the bouse, if the person occupying "his spot" goes out, one of their cars will be moved into it so it is almost permanently occupied by one of them.

To the immediate right of "his spot" is his drive entrance and he also does his best to make sure someone is parked on the other side of the drive entrance, leaving his drive entrance free for the third occupant to park across it, or if there is a space not to far up the road they will park there.

He does the car shuffle thing numerous times a day to make sure "his spot" is permanently occupied by one of them, it's very odd and very sad.

Thr wife parked there a few weeks ago and he had a go at her for parking there, she just ignored him.

Good post.
People don't want to talk to each other anymore. You parked in front of his house why didn't you ask him if he didn't mind?

We all know it is a public road but a bit of civility goes a long way.

Sadly, that statement is correct on SO many levels. Society in general really is completely fkd up. I can't for the life of me see how/where it will go long-term.

Could be worse, neighbour near where I'm starting now doesn't ask you to move or have a go, she just keys your car if you dare to park in her spot (communal parking area with no designations or restrictions), my freshly painted quarter now needs a re-spray :/

She's even now taken to putting a bin in the space - came out to abuse and take down the ref of my GF when she moved it the other day when rushing back to stop by for 5 mins and there was no where else to go

Thing is - she doesn't even drive or have a car!

Get something like that LDV, insure for a day to dump it outside this guys house, as it will still showed taxed at the time, then send off the paperwork registering it the this guys address, he can then spend his days arguing with DVLA for the next few months after number of fines drop on his door mat, and won't have time to notice where your car is parked.

So just to confirm from that statement, your car has only ever been either:

Parked on your drive

Parked outside your house

Parked in a car park

It has never been parked on a road you don't live on that has houses built on it
