Currently I'm struggling not to use mine as a daily, unless I need to carry something big, or won't get in due to ground conditions I struggle to use anything else!!!

I work on construction sites and still take it to work. I take it biking in wales

To longleat with my niece because she wanted to go in the nice car

Absolutely love it. Now just need to find some winter wheels and tires for less than £5k that Porsche want

7500 miles in 4 months and I've decided I don't are how much I put on it

I'd like to think I'd do the same if I was lucky enough to have a 991 GT3... but -hamefully- I KNOW it would be a pampered weekend toy..

Have been running a 7.2 GT3 as a daily for six years now. Have it on winter tyres in the cold months and love driving it in the snow. It's perfectly usable every day

Great to hear stories of these cars being used properly, rather than viewed as investment pieces!

More please biggrin

Well for the first 18 months it only covered 1100 miles. And had 3 owners.

Great to hear this sort of story. You are rare, but not alone - remember seeing a GT3 on my commute almost every day in all weathers. I did actually use my 997 GT3 daily, so would argue i was even more hardcore than you... wink

As the years roll by, people will realise its the memories they made rather than a few grand flipping is what was important!

That's how 99.999999% of Porsche GT cars spend their entire lives.

Shame.

Well done to you.

Just to put that % in context.

99% = 99/100
99.9% = 999/1,000
99.99% = 9,999/10,000
99.999% = 99,999/100,000
99.9999% = 999,999/1,000,000
99.99999% = 9,999,999/10,000,000
99.999999% = 99,999,999/100,000,000

I understand your point. But mathematically you are incorrect readit, especially as you have an example of 1 car above which hasn't spent it's entire life swapping owners doing an average of 366.66666667 miles in their ownership. Also there haven't been 100,000,000 GT cars built by Porsche. I personally would say that circa 60% of GT cars are garage queens. Not much more than this.

I also have a GT car, which isn't a garage queen and that I've done 25k miles in. So that's 2 cars for your data set. HTH smileclapthumbupbeer

I know a very well-known architect who used his BMW 840i as daily since he bought it in 90s and recently switched to i8 (after making 400.000 miles!), mainly in construction sites & long euro commutes. Not really comparable but Porsche should double that easily beer

I used my 991 GT3 as a DD - didn't swap to winter tyres , just drive it far more carefully if the tyres wouldn't heat up properly due to low ambient temp. Not saying you shouldn't swap tyres - that's obviously your call . Enjoy the car smile

I was thinking the same that it's actually really easy to drive in poor conditions, as I drive it in all weathers and never had an issue even in heavy rain on cup 2s, never been a problem.

Until this morning where I had a little sideways drift that I caught coming off a roundabout, not particularly fast just accelerating with traffic, it's wasn't wet just cold, damp and slippery. A little reminder that you do actually need to be a little bit careful

Nice car OP, but not sure I could stand the loud shunting noise from the transmission every time I took my foot off the accelerater for a daily driver!

Had an OPC car for extended test drive and glad/ish to hand it back

Great to hear you're still using the car CBE, and good to meet at Silverstione in September.

I'm up to 13.5k now, changed from the Cup 2s to Dunlops at 10.5k as the Cups where getting a bit iffy smile

Can't claim any prizes for daily driving though.

It's certainly a car that could be used as a daily driver, but I don't use mine for that purpose as it would be a huge waste for the journey I do, and leaving it at the station for 12+ hours a day isn't ideal.

My main problem with the Cup 2's is aquaplaning - having a little more slip in low grip conditions is no problem at all, you can drive around it and provoke it if you like, but when the steering goes very light and you're not in full control, that's just scary.

If it was for daily use, I'd certainly be putting some different tyres on through the winter - maybe Pilot Suoersports if not full Alpine winters.

Very accessible and practical cars. I'd happily have one for a daily driver - and I cover at least 50k miles per year

I've had my RS for about two months and covered 5k in her. I'm sure that financial suicide, but what a way to go.

mines a Daily driver;
any excuse to drive it really !

Can't think of another car I've ever owned that does all the different types of driving so well - closest was the Panamera Turbo.

looking at about 10-12 K PA in mine (including trackdays smile )

Nice to see someone else using theirs too
