It will be a "speed on green" camera, not a traditional red light camera so yes, they can.

Why not? People often accelerate to jump a red lights hence the need for red light cameras. I would imagine it's not that tough to combine the technology. Besides you can see the camera clearly on the right of the picture and the markings on the ground.

They say it is a speed camera.

It can be combined with a red light camera to enforce speed on the green phase. there was a very famous one near to me which generated a huge amount of revenue. The green light bit was eventually set to a huge amount over the speed limit as even the Police and Council were embarrassed.

Good, I have absolutely no sympathy with drivers who speed across a junction, red light jumper or not.

They'll also have a disclaimer for the website somewhere saying "don't rely on the accuracy of the information on this website".

Yes but is there not an obligation to publish accurate information about speed camera sites?

Possibly but I'm not sure what you're point is, so the information is wrong does it make that much difference? I doubt the guy who was caught had an encyclopedic knowledge of all the sites he gained from studying the website which he used to speed through the junction thinking "it's ok, this location is just a red light camera".

Ok well there is a 40 mph speed camera on the toneway but the standard 30 sign just before the camera shows no speed camera so have the complied with signage rules for it to be used as a speed cam

If a red light camera is painted yellow it is a good indicator that it is also a speed camera.

Well that's a different point and possibly worth investigating. However the checks are normally quite thorough when they set them up so I'd be surprised if it's wrong, worth a look though.

Can't remember how long it's been yellow, it was about a year ago the council sold all these cameras to the police for £1.

They then decided their funding gap could be bridged by speed enforcement, looks like they also decided to change this camera to speed enforcement.

I wonder if their signage is compliant.

You could also check the calibration of the drivers equipment?
