Hmm...wonder which models? The diesels were already in the original scope.

Do we really care?

If I bought a VW Polo on the basis of it's MPG I might be upset to find that it can't get close to that.

But the last thing I look at when buying a Porsche is the mpg figure (and we've owned some big engined, thirsty 911s and Cayennes), so if they were tweaking it a bit I wouldn't notice, and frankly couldn't give a damn.

If they tweaked MPG / CO2 (which are linked) to get into a different tax bracket, would that matter to you? It might matter to other manufacturers / HMRC.

Does anyone really buy a Porsche for its fuel consumption

The worry for me is not fuel consumption.

Its that if there is a fix that would reduce performance. No idea yet of the nature of the Porsche-specific problem.

Some very short sighted attitudes here. If any manufacturer were guilty of this would the resultant cost have no detrimental affect on their products?

You only have to look at every dyno chart that the maps are fixed to give best mpg at test speed, all Porkers have dead spots which are co2 low spots, the whole thing is fixed inc stop start figures etc. Nothing new.

My Macan SD has a DME re-call, I'm told it's because in certain circumstances the car 'could' be outside it's emissions remit!

Are you assuming we are all worried about the value of our cars, rater than driving them.

I admit there's WAY too much focus on here on the value of the cars, the pricing bubble, etc. But in some cases, myself included, it's because we actually love the cars. If I found out that mine admitted a bit more CO2 than I had been told, well, I would be....... bored.

Apart from that, VW and Porsche have very deep pockets, and the German government will not let either go to the wall, so I am not at all worried about that either.

The quality of future products would be the concern.

Had the recall letter for my Macan and immediately chucked it in the bin - I didn't want to risk them "tweaking" the engine for compliance reasons at the risk of detrimental performance. Of course one day it will have to go in and I guess I then will not have a choice frown

Exactly. If I get a recall on any of my cars I might dyno them before and after

Where's the law that says you have to have any recall done? Even so, just get it re mapped afterwards to suit your agenda rather than thiers smile

The only ever scandal that might affect Porsche owners would probably be missing a few cylinders hehe

good idea - the letter read like a massive arse covering exercise to me - I would post it up on here but I shredded it as doing this means it isn't real ; right ? smile
