I'm glad the OP is taking this seriously and is being transparent with his employers. After all, wasn't there an issue with the driver who accidentally killed people in his rubbish refuge truck in Glasgow and the fact that he did not declare a previous conviction? I can't be bothered to Google the fact.

Problem is I still need a license to drive a bus, unless I don't tell them. But I'm sure once they do their annual delay license check it will flag up as I had been banned and they'll question me.

I'm looking to do things the right way here. It's also very difficult to get the annual leave as they're preset, only able to swap with other drivers.
You're not really giving that impression. You come across as hugely irresponsible and you're expecting help with something which should pretty much be cut and dried.

Apart from the fact that you're having a child while "in debt" and you're willing to risk your licence and therefore your job despite the impending birth you're now contemplating not declaring a driving ban to your employer. Could that not carry a risk of further prosecution, as could continuing to drive while banned?

You really need to have a serious word with yourself and face up to your responsibilities.

That said your thread title appears to suggest that this is the first notice you've received of the offence. Is that the case?
Has anyone pointed out that you're a sanctimonious helmet?
I have.

Just thought I'd put my two penneth worth in here. When I got nicked for 117mph on the A1, I did all you've done and wrote a letter etc, went to court and also got a 14 day ban. The code was SP50 and in the column for 'points awarded' was SPD for 'short period disqualification'

I got a 14 day ban for 104mph on the M6 back in 2009, my licence also say sp 50 and 14d in the disqualification period box.

SP50 is a motorway offence. SP30 is a non-motorway offence. Completely unrelated to the disqualification except where a "totting up" disqualification is imposed - in which case DVLA code TT99 is used.

I don't care what time of day it was or how busy it was, if you do 62 in a 30 you deserve all you get. One less prat on the roads

Perhaps the SP50 for the A1 offence was on an (M) section?

As previously mentioned, SP50 is a motorway speeding offence. Not a disqualification code.

I didn't realise that, thank you for the clarification.

Come on! No need for that fella. I'm sure many of us but for the grace......

There are plenty of 30mph dual carriageways where I might of exceeded the limit. In fact I got stopped for dangerous driving in the same area as the OP.

Half hour lecture from the drivers of an unmarked car then told to expect a court case.

14 days later I got the letter. 3pts and 100 pound or a course. Think I was very lucky as the police only had the evidence of their eyes.

That part of South East London is festooned with fast roads that have speed limits that can change every few hundred yards and if clear mistakes can easily be made.

Absolutely. SP&L used to be one of the few places where that kind of comment just didn't happen; or if it did, it was alongside helpful/useful advice and information.

We've all been young / stupid, and I'd guess 90% of people on PH would deserve hanging for at least one thing they've done in their motoring lives.

@Vonhosen - thanks for the clarification on the TC

Yep, need sharp eyes along this section of the South Circular and surrounding roads, especially on the two lanes sections.

And, at 5pm on a weekday, this is one of those, is it?

I didn't know that either - one of mine is an SP50 from the A55 in Colwyn Bay. It's a bit odd though as it had the old fashioned sign as you enter Colwyn Bay that motorways used to have - no horse-drawn carriages etc.

The bit I got caught on is 50 limit (permanent) and I'd just carried on at 70 so I always thought it was SP50 due to the speed limit.

I can't be bothered to open the link as I was sure some one would post a pic of the usual heavy traffic in that area during the day.

Just sometimes it can be amazingly clear and as I said before I'm sure plenty of us are guilty but just haven't been caught.

Go easy on the guy. He admits he feked up, he's asked for advice and has taken his punishment without wasting the court's time. No need to call him names as some posters have or act all holier than tho.

He did say there was no traffic. If there were traffic, trust me, he wouldn't be able to go faster than 30, let alone 60.

Same here, 55 in a 30 limit many years ago however in my defence it was a 2 lane (in one direction) road, not built up at all, no junctions to speak of etc. Quite staggering as to why a 30 limit. The policeman gave me the option of 3 points tbf to him.

TX.

I was just posting it for the location, tbh... A residential road, less than 500m between having two trunk-road junctions, with several side roads, bus stops and parking spaces.
