Hi All,

I have been to work, sat down with the garage manager and regional manager. The conversation was quite casual and open. They have moved my June Annual Leave forward, so I have have two weeks off from yesterday and I get to keep my job.

Their biggest concern was whether or not I would have to re-take my test, a quick gov.co.uk confirmed I wouldn't, from that point they said they couldn't see a reason to not have me back driving once the ban is up.

Thanks to everyone who supported me and to those who berated me, thanks to AGT Law for helping me format my Mitigation letter and offering his services. Hopefully this thread provides useful for those in a similar predicament.

Thank all!

EDIT: For those interested in the vehicle I was driving: Toyota Corolla T Sport (192bhp of Toyota's finest)
Fair do's for opening yourself up for a forum kicking and being honest in your posts. Hope that the lesson is learned and life moves on positively. The forum is about fans of the right foot (both throttle and brake) so what got you into this situation should be understandable to most on here even if we don't agree with the WTF.

A 14 day ban seems very harsh given the implications it could have on the OPs job. Add in a baby which is on the way and I thought the court would be more sympathetic in such a case.
Maybe the OP should have thought about that before doing more than double the limit in a built up area?

On another note, pleased to hear it's turned out as well as it could OP, all the best.

You got lucky with the short ban and work, let's hope that lucky streak continues smile especially when the little one is born. Do you know if it's boy or a girl yet?

Now that the biggest worry is out of the way, it may be worth contemplating how to deal with the other big issue; namely the debt and the high cost of insurance, particularly the large sum you'll need to find from somewhere relatively soon. You might want to think about downgrading the T Sport to something with fewer equines in the engine bay. A more "sensible" car model with a "better" driver profile, as far as insurance purposes that is, and lower power would reduce that £1900 massively. It may even release some money from the car itself, on the other hand it may not. Either way, if you can halve your insurance cost by driving a slower vehicle, I think it would be a good price to pay to reduce the financial pressure on your shoulders right now. It may also have the effect of protecting your licence for a while should you ever have get tempted to push your luck. wink

IntriguedUser, I've just found this thread but haven't read all of it due to i can't be arsed to filter out all the usual insulting PH posts, Was plod hiding behind the bus shelter just before the flyover as they seem to be there quite regularly. As for people saying how did you reach 65 in such a short time well It's not difficult. One other thing to consider is be very careful now as it can affect your PSV licence if you get done too many times even in a car, the traffic commissioner recently revoked a lorry driver's vocational licence after getting done for speeding 3 or 4 times in a car, his reason being that if the guy speeds in a car he probably speeds in a truck as well.
Bad luck on getting done in the first place but at least you keep your job.

Well you're wrong, most of the time you seem fair in your assessments but on occasions you are just downright rude.

Meh, I called a spade a digging implement. The guy's a fool.

Not read the whole thread. Just to say that's the exact same speed I was caught at a little over 3 years ago now. Outcome was 5 points, reduced from 6 for a guilty plea, and a 300 quid fine.

Glad you managed to keep your job, OP. A trip to court is usually quite a wake up call. I don't plan on a repeat visit.

Pah! People make mistakes. Sure driving twice the speed limit is a pretty twunk thing to do but the OP seems fairly reasonable and remorseful, not like the majority of the "oh st I've been speeding lol help me get away with it" threads on SP&L...
