Please select the crimes you would report, or select neither if you wouldn't bother!

Given up reporting anything motoring related. I passed a Transit and saw the driver drinking whisky from a bottle, this was on a northern section of the M25, rang 999. The operator said that the Police cannot turn out for every crime and that I shouldnt be using my phone whilst driving.

On this same section of Motorway, I was in the middle lane travelling at 50 on camera monitored average speed. There was a lorry on my left, he moved to the middle lane hitting my car and spinning me at right angles to the lorry, rang 999 and they said it wasnt serious enough for them to attend.

I suppose it depends if it was a family member or a random person.

Am I the only person who has never come across 'weed', ever? Or at least never recognised the smell? I think I know roughly what it's supposed to smell like?

Police in my county have started using a roadside test for cannabis and cocaine. I was chatting with a traffic officer on Tuesday and he told me that the majority of the people he is now dealing with for driving over the limit are drug rather than drink related. He thought that in my city it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

You were lucky they didn't bother.

They'd have arrested you for being silly enough to sit in a blind spot....smile

Wouldn't bother reporting either because I'm certain nothing would get done.

The levels detectable are so low that just trace amounts will put you over the limit, imagine having a single pint then two days later being pulled over and blowing positive, thats whats happening right now with the cannabis testing and its not on imo.

Report a drugged driver? Yes, every time - why would you not?

This really. It's a waste of time. Driving on drugs is bad news but nothing would get done so there really is no point reporting.

Though someone having a spliff, not doing anyone any harm? Why report that?

It's funny this thread should come up now, I was thinking just yesterday how often I smell it, seems to have gone up a lot recently, only yesterday there were people smoking it in a city centre car park.

Whilst walking the dog there are certain areas that always have the smell, I guess it's a smell that lingers well

Because I know, in isolation, it makes me a much more careful driver.

You need to tell them it was speeding and you will get a swift response.

In fact once they were so quick to attend my property after I had been accused of speeding, I was able to get the officer to touch the cold bonnet of my car which had not been driven that day. Still, they got a report I was speeding so leapt into action.

Of course, when my car got a brick through the window they didn't manage to arrive for three days.
