Hi

My Wifes trusty Nexus 5 is close to death, with google now not selling the N5x, can any suggest a reputable company to buy one?

Thanks
Nick

I got one off Amazon last week. Just make sure you pick one that is dispatched by Amazon UK. There were slightly cheaper ones available from Italy and USA but they wouldn't have the correct plug.

I got mine from Amazon uk a few months ago. Nexus 5x 32gb version.

From a reseller called Techinthebasket....I paid £228 which was a bargain.

Great phone, replaced my Nexus 4

Got mine from Debenhams online online 4 months ago.

ISTR reading about some non-uk versions not working fully with UK networks so worth checking if buying online from foreign sellers.

4G on Band 20 800mhz, only EE don't use it. Most phones don't have multiple market versions in hardware spec at least, it's mostly phones only sold in asia that don't do band 20 4G, and this has an Asian version.

I guess this is out of warranty hence replacing? Not interested in something else?

£287. Plenty cheaper available but it was the safe option. UK phone, brand new, dispatched by Amazon.
It actually arrived the very next day (a Sunday) too.

Is it me or has the price rocketed of these since the release of the Pixel phones? I bought three of these about 6 months ago and I'm sure I paid circa £200 each.

How about this on Amazon

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B016B7IN8Q/ref=mp...

Am I right in thinking that going through prime is better than not using it?

Thanks
Nick

I don't know what the issue is with your Nexus 5 but most of the common problems with them can be resolved if you have the inclination. I replaced the battery and flashed a custom Android 6 rom to mine when it started playing silly buggers.

A year on and I've updated it to Android 7 Nougat and it's as slick as some premium handsets I've seen costing 600 quid+. Not bad for a device that cost me 250 quid in 2014.

TL, is your Nexus 16 or 32Gb? I have a Nexus with a good screen but it doesn't turn on now. Battery is new but I think the Mainboard failed.

Asking if you are going to part with it, if I could maybe salvage it?

It's the 16gb version I think (only because the wife says it's out of memory) which is another reason why I was looking at the Nexus 5x

Is that still of interest to you TC?

I think prices did go up a good bit once it became clear Pixel was going to come in at a much higher price point and Google phone fanbois decided not to make leap from Nexus 4 or 5 to Pixel.

It would be indeed. I would be very grateful.
