Of course it's stupid! It's beyond stupid and my Son let me know afterwards how stupid it was as he and his mate were put into a position of possibly having to see someone they care about getting a slap and the consequences of if they then stepped in to help.
It was silly, heat of the moment stuff.
But I still stand by the fact that this van driver was about to drive into me because he was texting and then went on to be abusive when he was in the wrong... that's why I 'lost it'. No cats or children were killed though...
ste attitude on the forum, ste attitude in real life.It was silly, heat of the moment stuff.

Road rage is not the answer, but wanting to educate someone is, if the driver decided to lamp me then fine, i was safe in the knowledge i was 'right', If the van driver had a knife and stabbed me is that me at fault? Or the person who carries a knife round? Should we all turn away from ass holes and let them get on with it?

I just may be, but you sir have 6 points and £100 fine, hope the call was worth it...
I'd rather have 6 points than be you TBHI'm sure OP sleeps better at night, you're probably still raging about the way someone looked at you.
6 points and £100 fine for being on a mobile... could of simply had it on speaker phone and had it on lap, fuzz wouldn't off been able to see it... must be kicking himself.
One more step out of line and it could be bye bye licence for the OP...lol...
I can't believe pistonheads is pro mobile use.

I'm not the Dalai Llama , but I might as well be a straw man with that sort of argument! I'm a far more calm individual than you are.6 points and £100 fine for being on a mobile... could of simply had it on speaker phone and had it on lap, fuzz wouldn't off been able to see it... must be kicking himself.

No-one is condoning the use. We all make mistakes and silly choices. OP has fully admitted his and I'm sure learnt from it, he even said he was a dick for doing it on page 1!
OP would have got 3 points and £100. The double penalty has not come into force yet.
You seriously need some anger management. This could have all gone away but you keep digging your angry little hole.

I've nothing to add to the debate, but please, please learn that it's would have, could have and should have, abbreviated to would've, could've, should've and so on, not of. 6 points and £100 fine for being on a mobile... could of simply had it on speaker phone and had it on lap, fuzz wouldn't off been able to see it... must be kicking himself.

Can't really be bothered, i give posts to forums about the same level of care and scrutiny as a text or facebook post. Seriously if forums are your life then I'm sorry if it offends you to see slap dash grammar and spellings, but honestly typing using phones and tablets means plenty of mistake and add to that i don't care.

It doesn't offend me at all. I write things quickly and often make typos, but rarely do I get simple grammar wrong. You have to make a conscious decision to pick the wrong word. I'm yet to get a fine and points on my license for bad grammar....so i'll console myself with that for now...

No points. Course offered.
Kicking myself. Yes, I made a mistake.
Speaker phone; you obviously haven't read the thread.
6 points hasn't come in yet.
No one here is pro mobile use while driving.

Mouth breather..... I'm not the dunce who got caught using a mobile phone. The dunce who did get caught came on here to get the full pistonheads circle jerk, sorry for spoiling it I do hope you all managed to come OK..
I came on PH with genuine questions relating to making a mistake with my tail between my legs and said I was stupid. You've come on PH to pick a fight based on little knowledge from not reading the OP. So far you've piped up and called me and others "thick", "pleb", "cretin", "prat", "stupid", "idiot", "dunce" & "jerk". I'm telling my Mum!
In fear of stooping to your level of unintelligent name calling I'll leave you to bat on about things with little relation to the subject you absolute sausage womble!
compared to how many get caught speeding??
yet many many many of us do that without the kicking holding a phone to your ear gets
i was parked up getting fuel this morning
pump to the right of the car
to left of my car is the garage
there is a marked walkway along th front of the shop
as i'm going to pay, a crazy cow flies between my car and the shop doing about 25mph to get to the cash machine down the other end across the door of the shop! if a kid had come out of the shop onto the marked walkway with his new kinder egg he'd have been killed - no doubt!
i really wanted to go and have a word with her and if she had walked towards me i would have said something BUT i just took the incident on board and will add that to my driving experiences/awareness
just be sensible in ALL aspects of driving - there are way more things than just mobile phones to distract you while driving
