Our whole housing development has the struck covenant of no trade/commercial vehicles. In practice as it happens that also means we do not have any such vehicles parked in our road.

If per that pic being discussed was my house - I would park my car in that spot when the van is moved on it's once a week outing. Leave it there until he parks elsewhere for its usual week of non movement. Carry on as usual - If however as soon as you move yours he then moves said van back to in front of your property.... you might say he has an issue with you.

I'd be a bit tempted to park my own car there. For some reason I don't find large vans appropriate for residential areas.
So where should the van owners self employed or not park their vans ?

The alternative solution is actually in my post - any signwritten vehicle or white van (non car derived) has to be parked on the owner's property. Solves the problem of LWB high-top Sprinters being ditched outside other people's houses. Because, despite what everyone posts on here, nobody would actually want to live with that.
The issue has got a bit confused smile
If the vehicles are not to be parked in residential areas where do they go?
If they fit on a drive all well and good, many won't though and even if they do you are just switching vehicles onto the street so Egor's point still stands.

Fact is our residential roads are going to get more congested

Just apply similar regulations as apply to HGV's so they can only be parked on industrial estates and layby's overnight.

Having a van parked in full view of your window is so annoying that the guy opposite is moving house.

Surely the answer is to buy a taxed MOT'd Luton Transit, signwrite it with
"Enjoy the view" and then park it in front of their house.
And hammer a frozen MX5 in to his lawn or something.
Surely the answer is to moan about it on an internet forum...

Jeeez we'd have even more bottles of 'lucozade' everywhere vomit

Anyway most HGV parking just 'pisses' people off as they'd rather pocket the cash rather than see it as a 'business expense' but that's another story biglaugh

Well the problem is sorted as you can all see from the photo below.

Van is now parked with thought to others, in fact I may even suggest that he could move forward
a little bit now.
And all I had to do was park my car on my drive the other way around to be more considerate to the chap
with the empty drive and the van.

I may have to the wife out a blanket and a flask of coffee when it gets cold later due me not being open the
passenger door fully to help her out, the poor chicken is having trouble at the moment with a trapped Sciatic nerve.

Out of the box thinking perhaps, but why not try parking more than just a few inches from the fence.

Or are you simply trying to prove a fairly weak point ?

Not sure quite why the OP is coming in for criticism. The van driver has parked like a and the OP can only turn left out of his drive and even that carries more risk than would be necessary if the just engaged brain and parked a few feet back.

(OP as in the recent van element of this thread. Obviously not the messed up fantasist OP of the actual thread)

Just being a little sarcastic really. Like I said before the original query was can legally parked also be an obstruction.

This somehow turned into I parked badly on my drive. All I am asking of the van driver is to be a little more
considerate when he parks his van. His drive is empty there is nothing parked behind the van yet it seems
that it has to be as close as possible to the dropped kerb.

I have made no claims that it is safer to reverse out of the drive instead of driving out forwards just that regardless of
which way I come out of drive at some point I will be entering the road blind so to speak.

If I drove a van and had to park it outside my own house, I'd probably get all hormoanal and take to the internet and remind everyone they don't own the space outside their house.

I don't want it outside MY house, especially when the geezer down to he road with five cars parks everywhere .

Who's getting all hormonal?

I have made no suggestion that I do not want the van parked outside my house or even that I am somehow entitled to that space.
Just that it could be parked with a little more consideration.
