Morning All,

Some advice from people in the know, please.

My wife (no, really it was) got spotted doing a little over 30 in a 30 twice at the same place in the space of 12 minutes; once going one way, then again coming back the other way.

Both tickets have come through the post, both with the offer of doing a speed awareness course.

So the question: (clutching at straws) can she do the same course for both tickets? Can she do one course for one ticket, then another course for the other? Or is it a case of doing one course for one and taking the fine and points for the other?

Appreciate your expert opinions. Thanks.

The latter.

Would be treated as two separate journeys, rather than a continuous offence.

If it'd been in the same direction, with an average speed between them above the limit, you might have an argument of it being one offence.

But in this case, no. Two offences.

Yep, two offences. If they have offered a course on each, great, but they perhaps shouldn't have as they are usually only offered for a "first offence" within a certain period.

And tell her to keep 'em peeled so she at least notices the camera on first pass and remembers for second!

I thought they didn't offer the course until you'd advised who the driver was, but if they've offered for both offences then I'd accept for both and see how it pans out.

This ^^ They don't know that the driver was the same on both occasions yet? It could be two different people each going on a course.

Can you not say that it was the same journey, didn't slow down other than a handbrake turn further up the road from the camera and a continuous offence?

Which will definitely happen as the over funded, resource rich police have people scouring every corner of the Internet for any hint of wrongdoing being discussed by a load of pseudonyms.

Doesn't have to come from here and there is case law to show it has happened. Worth the risk for the sake of 3 points and a fine? I dont think so.

Conviction for PCOJ based on asking someone to say they were driving / take your points / Course etc?

How about R v Huhne and R v Pryce to start with? prosecuted in 2012 for the offence taking place in 2003. You never know who is going to split on you and would you want that hanging over you?

You're stretching it now. I have never suggested that PCoJ is an issue, I have stated that discussing it on here is not going to lead to a prosecution as a result of that discussion.

That was my challenge for you to provide case law on pistonheads discussing a topic.
