Hmmmm, out of interest was the hard stand there prior to the container going down? If the answer is yes, were you using this as a parking space? And if yes to that, are you now a bit annoyed you have lost your own "private parking space"
This is a good question that could do with an answer

No the tarmac you see in the photo is a footpath not a road there are bollards just out of sight to the left.

At some point the local gang of teenage ne`erdowells will target this and the following will happen:

1 They will climb on top of it and chuck stuff over the OPs fence whilst shouting abuse at his Mrs.
2 It will get broken into.
3 It will get covered in graffiti.
4 Fires will be lit attempting to torch it.
5 The grass around it will end up looking like a Glastonbury festival.
6 There will be all sorts of litter strewn around it.
7 The OPs fence will be used as a convenient place to take a piss.
8 The noise of balls bouncing off it will drive the OP nuts.
9 The OP will end up dreading sunny days/evenings in the summer.
10 One incident will break the camels back and the OP will move.

Well, maybe not but this is what I experienced from a similar situation 10 years ago.

OP - all of the above is cause to object to this and take it back to the PC. Are they so deluded to think that this container will not attract attention from the wrong sort of people. I would get a letter in early to PC saying that if any damage is caused to your property then you will be seeking reimbursement from them since the container would be the cause.

The naivety of the PC in this case is just amazing.

What kind of areas do some of you live in if a container is going to attract anti-social behaviour?!

Hi

I am an ordinary bloke who lives in a ordinary house in a ordinary area. Vandalism is not a major problem in the area but the chances are fair that it will happen as its a bit of target. The area I live in to me is a good area I'm happy for my kids to grow up here and they seem to be doing ok. If I could afford a walled mansion I would probably buy one but I'm not so I can't but I am happy. Apart from the container. smile

Is this not very simply solved:
http://www.containerlift.co.uk/transport/
Arrange pickup and delivery to the parish council building.

It just so happens I am a HGV Technician with HGV licence and know a lot of people in haulage. Believe me I have thought that one through. smile

So if I lived somewhere with rolling hills and beautiful views it would be a problem ?. I think that's a little unfair I didn't buy a house next door to a industrial estate and I don't think its suitable to be placed in a residential area.
Remember the quote "If you buy a house fot the view, buy the view"

I do agree it looks a bit nasty.

However, I'd use it as excuse to justify parking a Scammell Explorer outside a 3-bed semi as not being inappropriate, given that they started it.

Nice quiet area for the local potheads and proper druggies to hide behind to inject and roll up. Won't take long!

Quickest and easiest solution would be to get your contacts to move it to the car park on a weekend. Drop the council a line thanking them for their consideration.

I'll bet there's been no fire risk assessment. If they keep a few cans of fuel and it leaks it could spread a fire to your hedge then your property. I think that would be the official complaint I'd use. Say you'll hold them liable for any fire damage resulting from its placement. You probably couldn't prove them liable but they won't like the thought.

If it were put in the car park would there be folk that end complaining?

It looks totally st and . Has anyone suggested breaking in and nicking their equipment yet? You'll make a few quid and also deter them from using it.

You have a point mick.Nice house with a ugly container next to it.

I wouldn't be happy take it to your M.P if he or she is any good and have that eyesore removed from near your house.

How do you imagine this playing out OP, if you do get your way and it's moved? Its for the grass land next to where your house is, so if it is moved it's still going to be in proximity to your home. I would hazard a guess that they have decreed everything is fine because the alternative is to rip up the hardstanding and move it 20ft up the path and reinstall it.

Either way, good luck.

I imagine they would prefer a brick-built shed in a similar colour to the other houses. The container probably has a ride-on mower and various accessories so it'd need to be a decent size, ie. £££
