Having the same rucksack as someone seems a bit like clutching at straws if that's all the evidence they had though surely?

Bit of an idiot regardless, you'd have thought he could at least put a false plate off another bike as well!
When they went to his house having caught him on cam on genuine plates, he came up with some story about a gym acquaintance testing the bike so the police went to check the gym's CCTV whereby they couldn't find the acquaintance but lo and behold DID manage to find footage of matey with the rucksack.

Admittedly not as good as catching him at the roadside but certainly a lot more than just having the same bag.
The only way they could link him to the bike with the false plates was that they had the same rucksack though, it could have just been any random with the same bike/rucksack.

I don't get how catching him on the real plates enabled them to link him to the bike with false plates.

Simple. A jury thought that the link had been proved "beyond reasonable doubt".

He was spotted riding like a complete tt three times...
Once by an off-duty officer, with false plates. No chase.
Once by the same officer while he was ON duty, still with false plates - the chase was abandoned because of the danger to others.
Once by another officer, with REAL plates. He dodged a roadblock, and they used the plates to get him at home. He claimed it wasn't him, but his mobile phone was in the same place at the same time as the rider. There was no evidence anywhere of the person he claimed it was. The cctv at his own business showed him leaving, dressed the same as the rider in the police video, and that gear was - we can presume - found at his home. With a knife in the rucksack.

He pleaded guilty to the knife.
The jury found him guilty on the other two.

14mo for the driving.
14mo for the false plates.
2mo for the knife.
3yr 3mo driving ban, 4yr 3mo 50cc+ bike ban.

From the sounds of that article, it wasn't just the rucksack that they matched up.

Have a read of this - it's the "about us" page of the offender's gym.

What a total throbber.

Definitely glad he got caught, the speeding was brazen but clearly other things factored in equates to him coming across as a pretty unpleasant guy.

Plus he looks like a ball bag with a face drawn on it!

Well ditto robbing a back. That takes big stones - given that if you get caught it's 10-18 years!!

Some people just don't think that far ahead.

"Why did you stab him".

"He disrespected me innit"
What does all this mean in English?

Founder Paul Whyatt opened a home-made gym consisting of derelict farm machinery in 1981 in a Three Holes barn, for the training interests of himself and friends.

However, interest in the gym soon grew which encouraged Mr Whyatt to quit his job at the Metal Box factory and relocate to a larger premises, "The Chicken Shed" in Christchurch.

Today, his gym now consists of cutting-edge strength training equipment including nautilus and hammer-strength machines at its North Street home — where it’s flourished since 1985.

Shapers has evolved with the times but continued to operate like a true gym should.

Shapers is a bit of a niche gym — it’s very hardcore and you get a strong flavour of that when you arrive. A lot of brand-new gyms are watered down places but we’ve continued to keep our strong brand identity despite installing the newest equipment on the market.

A gym is a working environment and you can't buy that ambience, you have to develop it over time, which we really have.

Take a look at some past and previous images below…

Certainly a first class muppet for getting caught doing that lot!

If you watch the video on that website, I'd suggest the Police are getting a bit carried away and putting all their faith in the hope that people in front will see and hear the blues and twos!

148mph approaching traffic, on a bend with bumps in the road, lucky no one pulled out in front of them.

Had to laugh when they switched the lights off and were following some member of the public at 110mph!

70+ through a village, total disregard for the general public.

I saw this on the Visordown page on Facebook (extensive footage of his riding), the moment I read 'gym owner' and 'false plates' I just knew it would be a typical meathead roid-raged nutter rather than a Pilates instructor.

Website really needs an update:

I used to live around there & am familiar with the whole area. The A1 was hairy, love the Audi A4 driving to type in front of the police car on blues & twos. The A road through Thorney was scary. The local driving standards n Norfolk are abysmal, using mirrors doesn't figure to the average local.

And I'm sure his lawyer used the rucksack defence, as well as an evil clone from an alternative universe as tools in defence of the guy.

Plus I believe he may have owned a football or MP3 player at some point to in his life. (Promising footballer or rapper).

In all likelihood, he probably also had his phone on him whilst riding, pinging off every local mast as it went past.
