The police can stop anybody simply to check the paperwork. Once stopped they can also do a breath test if they so wish and feel they have reason to do so.

A breath test can only be requested following an RTC, moving traffic offence or if alcohol is suspected.

I assume XCP is referring to whether or not a dodgy place is a moving traffic offence for the purposes of requesting a breath test.

Presumably she was dressed up, perfumed up and looking like shes off to a nightclub. Plenty of suspicion to request a test.

Perhaps the police officer thought he could smell alcohol on her breath?

If so, he was within his legal right to ask the driver to give a sample of breath. QED.

Probably winding you up.

Try driving around with a numberplate block on your car (for legitimate reasons).

You'll get "interest" every time you drive past an ANPR enabled car or block.

Can become tiresome but can also be fun

Maybe a legally spaced number plate would have avoided this...
