This is why I will no longer sell anything on eBay. I got so fked if with people clearly on the rob/ scam.

I now use Facebook and gumtree, cost is free and is strictly cash. None of this getting robbed by eBay, then robbed by PayPal for more fees and then fked over again when the purchaser tried to scam you as well. fk that.
I recently sold some bits that were cash on collection only. Ebay terms and conditions state that for anything apart from cars etc, you have to offer Paypal as a payment method. Everybody who responded was happy with cash, thankfully.

I did have one item that didn't sell though. The chap won an auction for my old road bike and completely ignored everything. He didn't respond to me, so I opened a non payer case. It finished with it being closed as a non payment, so he gets one strike on his account.

Unfortunately, you cannot do anything about a person with one strike. They need two before you can block them from your auction. Also, he completely messed up my auction and simply got away with it.

I keep an eye on his account. He recently sold a bike that didn't reach what he wanted. He completely refused to let the winner have the item. It's noted on his account via a bit of negative feedback. As a seller though, you can't leave a dodgy buyer negative feedback. There is no record of what he did to my auction for anyone to see.

I only use Ebay as a last resort and if its something paid for in cash that I don't need to post. It really is a cesspool of morons and idiots.

The road bike is going on Gumtree next. Can't be bothered with relisting it and being messed about again.

Just had the same, some Grade A a-hole made a low ball offer which I accepted, he then disappeared. He has a 100% rating, almost 400 score, can't do anything aprt from he receives an unpaid item strike - woopee. I have blocked him from bidding on my listings again but there will be plenty more to take his place rolleyes

Know your pain. The asshat who ruined my auction had 100% too. He is now selling bits and bobs himself (hence why I have noticed the negative feedback).

Feel like bidding massive amounts on one of his auctions to return the favour. Wouldn't achieve anything though.

Any bets that the buyer's changed his car?
Or used the item a few times but no longer needs it.

Ebay does keep some old listings for longer than you'd expect. Here's an example from 2015: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-original-RS-powe... - there may be some smart way of using Google to find your old listing.

But for 30 quid... get him to return them and then refund him and resell?

so I lost the dispute with paypal. no great surprise, like others I will sell items on other sites now and not use ebay as they insist on paypal as a method of payment and they have a stupidly long time to claim a problem with a purchase.

Funnily enough this morning I had a text message from a guy i sold a 10 year old Amp to (a week ago). He was saying that the Amp should have a cooling panel attached and it's missing. It never did as far as i'm aware. He is asking about returning it. Heres the thing. He came over to get it in his van. Said van was full of hi fi boxes so clearly a trader. He looked at the Amp, i offered to plug it in. He declined, paid and left. He's clearly resold it and the new buyer is complaining. Not my problem!

Yep. Stupid, isn't it.

It's even more ridiculous that you can't leave negative feedback for buyers. Only sellers.

Will be interesting to see what happens if someone has paid cash. Can they take it directly out of your Paypal account?

i think if you paid cash then you are subject to ebays sensible rules of 45days, but if you pay by paypal this are ignored and its paypals 6mnths rules.

I would tell him "I wish you every success in dealing with your problem" and then leave it at that.

If anyone tried any comeback with me, I would have been ignoring them or telling them to do one. boxedin

It's my wife account-she says no. It gets a bit better though. This buyer made us an 'offer' but failed to turn up so we cancelled the deal and relisted (no fees). A few days later he turned up so we completed the deal. Ebay were emailed to tell them as it's only fair we pay the fees. Ebay phoned to discuss it and after 30 mins on the phone explaining it to 3 different people(a very simple concept) we hung up. So I doubt there is any live deal in their system. Legally Paypal is a separate entity. We didn't use them to effect receipt of the payment so they can't just take the funds. The buyer inspected the item, was happy then so there is no recourse.

it does not matter what you say, paypal takes the money from your account as soon as a dispute is logged and then returns the money when the items have been returned.

not sure what happens if the items "got lost in the post coming back" cough cough.

Could you unlink your PayPal and bank accounts so that even if they do try and remove funds then it's impossible. Ring the bank as well. If your done with eBay there is no need for a PayPal account really

if only it were that simple that ebay always sided with the buyer.!

We have just purchased a bed frame and mattress through an ebay store, the mattress was delivered OK, but no base.! Because the seller has a signed delivery note (For 1 of 2 items it states) ebay will not allow me to open a dispute.! They just insist it is something I must resolve with the seller - who simply puts the phone down on us, they appear to have got sick of us calling every other day to chase up the missing frame.

Seller is refusing to have mattress back, since it was opened when they told us the frame would be delivered the next day, ebay are simply not helping.

You don't have to accept it.

I had similar and called them and they reversed the decision.

The buyer also called them and they ended up paying him (for his spurious £100 claim) out of their own money.
