As someone else said, it sounds like the van triggered the camera but when the pics were reviewed both vehicles were noted as speeding

Knowing the scummers I'd bet both vehicles got tickets.

If they were both in fact speeding then they would do so

If you've not already sent the form back try

"Dear Sirs,

Would it be possible to send me any photographs of my vehicle that you may have in order to assist in identifying the driver?"

That line normally will result in them sending the happy snaps, but make sure you do send the S.172 back within the time limits.

I look at the fines as another tax for using the roads, whether I think I'm innocent or not.

A day in court could cost me far more in lost earnings than a fine so I, as I'm sure many others do, just pay up.

It's an unfair system but it's the law.

It certainly can be an unfair system at times.

If you were to go to court and win, in my opinion you should be compensated for any losses you suffer in the course of defending yourself. That would be fair, but I don't suppose it works that way.

Furthermore, the official who (without proper justification) decides to send you a ticket, should make a financial contribution towards your compensation, and not leave it all to fall on the taxpayer. If I had my way I'd be clipping the wings of some of these blighters.

The last Speed Awareness Course I did was five hours of utter hell, I realised I would have rather had the points. hehe

Hopefully they'll send something once the NIP has been sent back then. It's Lincolnshire, guessing they all have different procedures.
Which camera was it out of interest? The only fixed non-average cam I can think of is the one after the A52 northbound a mile before the services.

I took the points to. No way do I want to fund a load of ex coppers preaching to me in my own time. I'm sure they have good stuff to say but I've been driving for 40 years at speeds I safely choose. Never had a bump over 20 mph, when I got bored of the stop start crap in a queue. Dawdling sucks but think of the chidren, lol.

There are no "fixed point" speed cameras along there like GATSO or Truvelo. They were all removed years ago. That entire stretch from Great Ponton to Colsterworth is enforced with average speed cameras now and they recently became active in the last few months after the night lighting poles were switched on, so braking before one of the camera sets wouldn't achieve anything.

Hehe, 40 years , eh? Well I can beat that by a fair margin, but I have to admit I've had a bump at a lot more that 20 mph (just the one), but that was when a sheep elected to appear from nowhere and cross the road in front of me. There was no avoiding that one.

Best wishes,
Dave. beer

I did one a few years ago. Apart from the guy running it being a complete tool, it was shocking to see how little the other people on the course knew about driving properly. Quite depressing.

Ah, well that changes things somewhat for the OP, yes? Maybe taking the option of the course is a better option now. Tea & biscuits ain't so bad smile

If you did a speed awareness course, they'd take great pleasure in telling you that if you drove slower you could have avoided the sheep! wink

Yes, so long as the higher speed were to be used immediately prior to the encounter: otherwise it might just have resulted in a heavier impact - which i didn't need, and neither, I guess, did the sheep.

Its also true that if he had been driving faster he could have passed before the sheep got to the road.
