So no problem if you're illiterate!
Presumably the OP is in the UK rather than the states.

Arent those strips of grass at the front of properties where the service lines are buried?

Be careful inserting posts etc into the area.

Can those bendable posts be installed? So that if a car has to go up the verge in an emergency (if the road is narrow), its unlikely to suffer too much damage but will deter the post office parkers?

Road service own from the centre of the hedge on each side of the road.
Legally you are not allowed to place anything within 600mm of the edge of the carriageway/asphalt.
Otherwise you are liable for any damage to a vehicle that strikes it.
So the road service man told me today..
What about the BT poles which are on edge of lane near me then - they don't take any prisoners.
Those cast iron bell ends the council put on edge over the kerb.
Width Restriction posts.
Have seen lamp post near to kerb and the signs attached at HGV mirror height so you end up being
near over the centre line.

Put your big stones on the grass if someone drives into then - tough st

Somewhere on the south coast there is a large estate of bungalows all very mean & tight on plot & all with a frontage of grass verges. Almost without exception every property has a neat line of white painted triangular bollards placed within about 12 inches of the narrow 20 mph limited tarmac roads. And very pretty they look contrasting with the bright green grass. Most days you will see the mostly long retired owners who if they are not polishing their Honda's for the umpteenth time neatly mowing round the bollards & touching up the white paint. All rather funny & sad really.
However one day somebody had got irritated by such small minded proprietorial mind-sets & up-rooted a number of bollards & slung them over the garden walls. Must have been a team of weigh lifters. The same gang may well have then driven over the now exposed neatly shaved lawns.

Nothing should be within 450mm of the carriageway.
Just a thought, but how do local authorities get away with restricting the width of the road by putting those bells in the carriageway in that case?confused
