Ah man, that's the icing on the cake.

I'm loving all the handwringing on this thread. It didn't look especially sketchy to me, but there's probs not that many of us on here who have got close to that speed. I had 17 attempts at 200 in one trip, didn't manage it, but mid 190's was ok........ filming it though. FFS.

I've got to laugh at some of the reactions to 200 mph on here. Can you imagine the reaction of some of the posters on here if we have another war and they're told they have to go and fight! " But has anyone checked the brakes and tyres on the tank ? " laugh

Hundreds dead I take it? I do expect the Police to give this 100%, generally these big headlines are great for press. Modern cars are ridiculously competent things.

You got a 200bhp car capable of 150 to ">140" on the IoM on open public roads with other traffic? The same island where Mark Higgins got to a max of 168 in an 800bhp specially prepared WRX on closed roads.

No Randy, you are clearly the man. Look at your post count ffs. I doubt you ever have time to drive given how much time you must spend on here trying to be funny.

Yes (or indicated anyway). Dead easy on the descent into Ramsey. Have you ever been?

Once or twice given that both my parents and sister are buried on the island and to do what you describe on the descent to Ramsay (or anywhere on the TT course when the roads are open) would certainly match your username wink

Surely this is going to be dangerous for overtakes.... you’re overtake a HGV on a single carriageway road, only to hit the speed limiter and stop accelerating. All of a sudden you’re on the wrong side of the road and can’t get past the truck quick enough.
Perhaps people will start to learn to overtake legally.
It isn't possible to overtake safety within the speed limit, or to put another way its almost always safer to overtake above the speed limit.

"Perhaps people will start to learn to overtake legally" = I never overtake but I pretend I do, or just plain telling porkies to troll the thread.

I think its time people were honest about this.

Sorry about your parents + sister.

I don't agree that it's always dangerous to drive at that speed on that part of the mountain road (appreciate it's on the TT course but is travelling in the opposite direction) although it will obviously depend on conditions - as it sounds like you do know the place well you'll know also that mannanan's mist can also bring you down to 20mph some of the time on exactly the same road at timea.

I can think of 2 other places, both off the TT course btw, where it would have been safe, legal, and possible to do that speed in the omega too although not sure if I ever reached it in them.

You never encounter 45mph nuisances?

Some of my most orgasmic overtakes were overtaking in front of a speed camera van on the A75 totally legally and even better (although this is getting on for close to 20 years ago now) clearly deliberately undertaking a willy in a Saab convertible in front of a marked police van travelling behind me

(I agree most times you overtake you'll exceed the limit of course; but it's certainly possible to do so legally and I do)

There's nothing obvious online since 2021 but he looks more like a craft ale drinking hipster than someone who would be doing aggravated vehicle taking, so I'm gonna guess that either there's something very complicated that's sub judice or whoever did it got away with it happily.

Whilst supping craft ale.

My old man was a frequent visitor for the TT, in the 90's he saw an indicated 140mph on the mountain on mad sunday one year in his 928s, a few years before that we saw 120mph in his company SRI Cavalier, world of difference between that an a genuine 168 though

I had a run over the mountain in the Evo a few years back in the company of an exuberantly ridden IOM registered CBR600, and saw 140 in that. The bike was in front, we caught a marked police car up and without a moments hesitation the guy on the bike just pulled out and overtook it. Biggest leap of faith I'll ever take, but I followed suit, then shat myself waiting to see if I'd made a massive mistake. laugh

Every time I see that video I think - balls of steel. I would have bottled out long before.

I used to think 150 in Germany felt quick but that!!!!

I never would have dared get close to that.

Not read the whole thread, so might have missed something, but the only info I could find was this. Seems he denied driving the vehicle and, in the absence of further proof, got slapped with a small fine and some points.

April 22. 2021:
James Hollett, 39, of Grouse Road, Colgate, Horsham, pleaded guilty to failing to provide information relating to the identity of the driver of an Audi vehicle, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence at Crawley on July 8 last year. he was fined £500 and his driving record endorsed with six penalty points.

If he was guilty.
Maybe it wasn't him and he got punished for refusing to snitch. That was plausible enough for the court to accept it as possible.
