This is the exact reason why German cars bore me to tears. You've got to drive it like a complete nutter in order to 'feel' like you're going fast.
What does going fast feel like?

Eh? Are you suggesting that Audi just plonked a BFO fire breathing engine into standard A6 with no thought given to the rest of the bits that are needed to make it go, steer and stop? Stupid driving aside, I'm quite sure the brakes and the tyres are perfectly 'up to the job'.
The tyres certainly won't be up to the job. Y rated tyres are up to 186mph and 'Y' rated over 186mph, but there's no tested rating for these. Even with a carbon ceramic brake upgrade these are not suitable in an A6 at a 200mph emergency stop. It's part of the reason for a speed limiter as fitted by the manufacturer.

Your certainty is certainly entertaining.

.. and with him shouting 'fk the feds' on the video it just goes to show the very low IQ of these idiots who try this sort of thing. They have no thought or regard for anyone else on the road.
Theres nothing wrong in attempting 200mph in a modified car but just take it to a track/ airfield and do it. That way only the driver gets Injured/killed and not others..

Glad you find it entertaining, that's fine by me but are you saying that tyres with a limited speed rating are safe over the rated speed?

Yes, tyres are available that have been tested and released to the market for speeds over 300km/h.

Selfish act putting others at risk for the sake of bragging rights to his likely equally thick mates..
Ever driven on an autobahn?
The car is the least of the problems in that video! Clearly very well engineered as it needs sod-all control to keep it pointing the right way at that speed. Amazing really, when you look at an F40 or late-80s supercar trying to crack the double ton it looks like it's pant-sttingly tricky.
No surprise thats RS Audis for you. rolleyes

Minimal driver input or skill required and as soporific to drive at 201 mph as they are at 30 mph.

Hence the perfect car for your average granny or young innit bruv scrote to twoc.
Yes I'm sure your Porsche's rattle about and try to fling you off the road at 201mph.
Not really.

Its all about the right level of driver feedback from the car broadly proportionate to speed.

Do you change your brakes and tyres before you take your car onto the autobahn?

The road wasn’t busy. You get get cars doing 200 mph in similar conditions on autobahns. The difference is that in Germany other drivers are accustomed to others doing warp speeds. Also you rarely see drivers holding phones or fiddling with the radio etc., while driving.

There are a fair few “foreigners” driving on the autobahn. I’m pretty sure some of them are a little shocked for the first couple of hours.

There are also quite a few drivers not paying much attention to their driving in Germany. The reasonable thing about the Autobahn speed limits, is that if you drive over 130 km/h you are automatically given a portion of the responsibility if you crash into someone else. So if you want to drive quickly, you need to take into account the drunk, inattentive, incompetent, partially blind, etc. drivers.

Finally, there seems to be a bit of a commonly held belief that a blowout at high speeds is basically fatal, that just isn’t true.

Speed limiters won't be introduced, the revenue from speeding fines is too great.

Based on the usual Pistonheads logic, surely if his speedometer was showing 201mph, then his actual speed must have been @ 79mph? scratchchin

I have seen the video a few days before it was "public".

I don't feel particularly offended by it. Filming it was a bit dumb but hey :-)

That’s pretty much my view. I did 175mph on an autobahn and enjoyed it. Probably won’t do it ever again though.

Nice! What motor?

I did indicated 162 (limiter) in my M135i. It felt very stable! When it's remapped and limiter removal I'd aim for 180 :-)
