201mph indicated speed in Sussex

It's a motorway where no one expects you to be doing over 70mph.

Really?! If I'm travelling at 70mph on a motorway I'm fully expecting there to be (Many) people catching me up, sometimes with a fairly significant speed differential! While what they're doing is illegal, it's very common..... I'd have thought that the majority of British drivers are aware that people travel at faster then 70mph on the motorway.Snip

He was allover the road and anyone who films a speedo paints a story for me.

Not really. Watch the video again. He changes lanes frequently, yes, but he's moving out to give the maximum space he can when he's passing people, then returning after the manoeuvre. He's not randomly all over the road as your comment would suggest.Snip
I'd agree that people filming speedometers does paint a picture though.

But most motorway drivers have no idea what 200 mph even looks like on the road, let alone being prepared for that speck in the distance to be a vehicle doing such speeds. There's a huge difference.

Much like alot of Belgian drivers you get aload here that have zero ability to rear approaching speed or even any awareness.
Off topic but I recall an incident when driving on a Belgian motorway in a Ferrari. I was making good progress but slowed when I saw a Police car ahead. He was being followed by a people carrier and doing about 120 km which is the limit.I stayed behind the police car and people carrier but thought it odd when a few Belgian cars got close to them ,took a look then overtook. It must have been about half an hour later that I realised that it was a British Police car. I overtook then just before it was time to stop for a break at services. We were followed in by the Police car and shared the joke with what turned out to be the occupants of a Chelmsford traffic car followed the people carrier filled with more Essex plod. They all saw the funny side.
One handed is the worst part to me while filming.
I have done silly speeds when I’m confident the road is pretty empty and I know the surface well.
Otherwise this is can happen:

I once did a track day at Silverstone. I still remember the instructor saying what ever you do don’t lift off through abbey. Quite a bump, you couldn’t see it but pushing 140 through you felt it and without being told I probably would have lifted. High chance of unsettling and spinning off.

Out of interest, looking at the aftermath.I have done silly speeds when I’m confident the road is pretty empty and I know the surface well.

How did the video footage survive that?
Just watched the video, what a colossal tit.
If that had ended up sideways and rolling, there's a bloody good chance it could have gone over the barrier onto the opposite carriageway, still well north of a ton.
While I find speed limits often frustrating, there's a time and place for those kind of speeds - a public road isn't one of them, regardless of traffic levels. You simply don't have a controlled environment, unless it's a closed road under controlled conditions, you are putting members of the public at serious risk. If things do turn south, the energy involved is extremely likely to result in someone's loved one being taken to the grave - because one irresponsible tt in their Audi was too thick to be sensible.
