Hi all,

Made a journey along the M4 this morning, approaching the Bath junction where the 40mph limit is, I noticed that the big yellow box had turned black over night!!
Torched!!

Also, did anyone else see the large painted grid on the hillside near the camera, about 200 feet square in white paint with letters in the grid. What's that all about? Reminded me of crop circles. Must have taken a while to do.

A bit further on towards swindon there was suddenly brake lights coming on, then I saw why.. a scamera van in lane one doing about 55/60. Only one person in the front of it, which made me wonder if the other guy was in the back operating the laser as they travelled to the next scam spot. Do they do that?

The laser has to be stationary and not operating from behind glass e.g. a vehicle window.

Just heard on the news that the large white grid thing is a japanese monkey puzzle (I think they said) and took 20 ppl all night to paint on the hillside.

Hmmm, right next to the camera too... wonder if they had a spare 5 minutes..

Good point! Probably a stupid question but how does a plod car get a speed reading when they're following you at 80?

VASCAR systems (link here) can do that (without using laser/lidar).

A calibrated speedo may also be good enough; this method is seldom used.

Not Operated behind glass eh ?
I think I was done through the front windscreen of a scamera van in South Wales.
