can any officers answer a quickie? where you have your shoulder number theres 3 numbers and 2 characters which as i understand are area specific. can anyone tell me to what area CW refers to?

hey DVD - CW should be in sussex somewhere - i think it might be brighton but TBH im not certain. any ideas?

Other than CTW - Counter Terrorist Wing at Gatwick
cannot help. Generally denotes a Section or Unit in addition to collar number.

I know the Met use them and some other forces might too, but all the local ones round here only have collar numbers, no letters at all.

I presume you just got your collar number then? According to Charlie Romeo on here (who is based in Shoreham) my collar number will start Charlie Hotel. His surname starts with an 'R' so I deduce that C is a prefix for Sussex, then the first letter of your surname followed by three numbers.
