Beware: Peak District Scams and Overtaking
Discussion
Be careful in the peaks!
Saw 2 Derbyshire talivans yesterday - one on a straight bit of the A515 a mile or so west of Newhaven, another one at the beginning of a straight bit of the A5012 (Newhaven-Cromford). Both on bits where the road suddenly goes straight and people who wish to travel at the national speed limit may wish to overtake all the Sunday drivers doing 40 or 50, (and maybe briefly exceed the NSL whilst doing this).
Fortunately quite visible, but keep them eyes peeled, peops, and watch for vehicles coming the other way if you wish to overtake!

Ist typical.... Ist a Steveibabes type scam too... he once claimed ist more dangerous to overtake on straight than on bend or something when he had his own channel... I thought my command of English was having a hormonal episode at time (was last year....und I was quite "whale like" at the time )
WildCat said:Yes - I've found his take on English interesting - I emailed him recently (hi Steve ) and he appears to be having a strange take on my words, and is even threatening me with court action. Which would be fun, as the partnership would have to divulge all its statistics...

Which they wouldn't do...
So his threat is groundless
He also said that they have an extremely limited amount of accidents in 30 mph zones, and especially outside schools. Yet his website claims that most accidents happen in 30 mph zones:
Cumbria Tax Collectors said:
In common with other areas, most fatal and serious injury accidents occurred in fine, dry weather and on 30mph roads
Sorry for thread hijack - couldn't resist some SteveC bashing
You too Liebchen. Take look see on Paulie's site. He ist making all manner of threat to poor Ern on there. He ist easy target as he post mit his name und he ist businessman in Windermere area. He come across as nice man too und IG's wife has met him in his shop too.
Ist because he take photos und place in his posts which prove Steviebabes ist a bit cavalier mit his postings und claims... At moment - ist all very quiet mit the sub-marinated one. on Paulie's site.

Had spent weekend in Scarborough as well (met up with folks for meal on way near Macc on way back).
No speed cameras at all (I like N.Yorks!) - the only time I saw any camera signs was in a little sleepy hollow type village which had a justified 30 limit.
Also noticed all the chavved up 'boy racer' cars in Scarboro' had drum and bass pumping and very polite drivers who stopped to let the little old ladies cross across the prom!

I ask you which is more dangerous:
1) Overtaking at a suitable spot when it is safe and clear to do so
2) Beginning your overtaking manouvre, to realise that there is a mobile partnership life support machine on that stretch. Forcing either rapid breaking and diving in to a queue of traffic or slowing down to observe the speed limit, thus increasing the danger time.
Totally ludicrous
