Grr 3 points coming my way along usual work route. A question.. I though a mobile setup should be clearly visible (?). This came as a total surprise as dont recall seeing anything along there 12 days ago...
cheers

On the straight bit near the gatso?

For some reason I've always slowed down just on that straight - it does smell of TRAP.

Rest of the route deserves and gets a minimum of 40!

No idea exactly where would love to know. all the info reads is

PEPPARD ROAD, SONNING COMMON(380)MOBILE ENFORCEMENT

In the mornings I pretty much go with the flow so I expect rich pickings for that camera on the 9th

Well it's not listed on the TV 'safer roads' site as a mobile spot (but the list was last updated in Jan '05...).

You'll be pleased to know that the static camera is a roaring success...

1990-1996 2 serious accidents, no deaths
Dec 1996 Camera installed
1997-2005 3 serious accidents, no deaths

So ummm.... no difference then!

Not good enough.
When I got scammed on the A74(M) at least there was NO doubt to where the scam was located (and is now on this website as well)

I emailed TVSRP 3 months ago asking when they would be updating the list of camera sites to be more accurate. "Beginning of July", they replied after 3 weeks. A month later, they still hadn't updated the list, so I asked them again. 3 weeks later, still waiting for a reply.

The meeting minutes that they're supposed to provide under FoI act are also nearly a year out of date.

Wasters.

Funny - I emailed them yesterday too

I pointed out how much money they had to spend - and that they should be spending it on updating the website, rather then keeping it in a state of disarray.

But then again, without handing out the relevant info, they can catch more people = more £££

I don't think they have to be on display at all to catch you.. The bottom line is speeding is an offence with no Mens Rea, or intent.. Soo, basically if they show you are speeding (i.e. on a tax camera) then you are guilty...Unless their equipment isn't calibrated but I am sure calibration is a small cost compared to the revenue generated so they will do it...

Just be grateful next time your car is broken into/stolen that as long as the criminal drives away at 34 mph, plod will get him.

Other day heading along little road near the Sonning bridge (Thames near Henley) was a mobile fellow. Now, I was being a good chap & had no cause to brake. However, I could see him 400 yds + away as he was wearing a bright yellow jacket & not standing in a bush. Fair enough I thought.. this is what I * thought * the deal was these days. No ?

Ed, half the cameras round here (static ones) are placed right behind a very large tree, or in one case, behind a bridge.. They are bright yellow, but you will never see them.. Strangely, the one behind a tree is about 50 yards from a 30mph limit sign, also wonderfully hidden by trees.. No idea why the council haven't pruned those.......

many fixed ones have a healthy amount of foliage here too.. somewhere I picked up the idea that a man with a camera had to be cleary in view. Maybe not (well, obviously not!)

What will actually happen is you will get a Notice of Intended Preosecution, and of course be unable to name the driver. You will then be in Court for that offence instead and gain a fine and penalty points!

Not sure that this will happen, but it is possible!

Ed - you better let us know EXACTLY where this highway man is located!

Btw - the camera on the A4155 Shiplake, opposite the pub isn't switched on, as you can tell by the poor quality of the lines on the road!

Is this a good indication of an unused camera box? Can't they just use an overlay on the photo?

So you've been done twice?

You last wrote about Sonning Common (which is around 5 miles from Sonning!). They are very different places
