Yes you can.

You cannot hunt with stones in a catapult as that is classed as stoning an animal to death which is illegal.
Is that a 5-part response now?
Yes

I don't understand why you briskly walked away when he asked why?

Surely if you wasn't up for a conversation you wouldn't have shouted at him as he could have shot you from where he was?

Well, stone it. Unless it only said the fish was good enough for Jehovah.

Give him something proper to aim at, nick his bike next time, remember to weave left and right. More man points if you managed to pull a wheelie whilst flicking him the bird...

I have heard of the butchers paying before, what did they do with the tails? Was it some form of incentive to reduce the numbers and the butcher paid the fee?

I heard of someone on the Norfolk broads buying a house for cash after there was a bounty on some invasive rat thing and his dad used to hunt but became a sort of intermediary.
Coypu/nutria. Successfully exterminated some years ago

That's the one. I should have remembered as my friend had to shoot them around his lake in France as they were breeding like mad and damaging the bank of the island. They spread a virus that can make humans quite ill.

I think you mis understood the post.

I said I had seen people hit a coin in a tree at a distance I was not sure I could hit the coin with an air rifle when I was not In a rested position.

The 50m was another sentence and I was explaining that I would not take a shot at a rat at over 50m
OK, fair comment, sorry I did misunderstand.

I don't bother shooting squirrels as we are miles from the nearest area which still has reds. Sadly lots of rats here (near a school where they have a constant food source of crisps and everything else the kids drop) so frequently shooting rats at night with NV which is also rather fun.

Squirrels are also detrimental to song birds and young trees. (But also play a role in spreading nuts and growing new trees).

I do a fair bit of rat shooting. I use a thermal spotter and then NV scope with laser IR. I enjoy being out in the pitch black on my own and seeing all the other wildlife. I don’t like to hurt animals but I know the damage and disease the rats cause and there is a skill to be learned.

I can't quite understand why anyone would go to the hassle of shooting rats in such a secluded location...

Friends with stables or farms have issues with rats, I help them and at the same time I get out in nature. It’s not hassle, it gives you energy when you are where you feel at peace. I can be surrounded by over 100 acres and the only things around me are animals. I see badgers, foxes, owls, deer, rabbits all doing their daily thing without any clue I am there.

As someone, who is now waiting for the pest control guy after discovering the damage done by squirrels in the attic, I’ve gone from finding them cute to being infuriated at the sight of them! So would probably actively encourage said scrote with a catapultbiggrin
