Just because you do a lot of miles, doesn't make you a good driver. It is totally irrelevant.

You might be doing 100,000 miles a year really badly or dangerously for all we know.

I'm finding it hard to believe that with a police car up yer chuff with blues on that indicating left wouldn't get a gap for you to pull in to.
That's exactly what happens Bert every time!

Dont understand all the fuss from these so called driving experts on here

I will put this to you

Done this all my life without an accident and have 3 points for doing 68 mph on a dual carriage way in a 3.5 tonne Transit

That's a direct instruction. No police officer should tell you to speed up.

FWIW I wouldn't speed up if I was the OP. Signal so they know I've seen them and pull over when I can.

I'd also not expect anyone to speed up to let me pass when I'm on a blue light run. If they do that's down to them.
B#When i was doing a bit of private hire driving, i was driving in the clients car with him in it, i stopped at a red light somewhere off Regent St iirc. Behind me comes a Range Rover Blues and twos. stops 2in from me rear. didnt turn off the two tones. Driver gets out and Bellows MOVE IT. I just pointed to the light and said, 'When that goes green' He just got back and waited.
For all i knew there was a red light camera and reasons do not count "3pts and 100.00 please
However i will do everything legally possible to assist them on their way when i am moving.

Years ago jumping lights nad exceeding speed limits.was ok...Nowadays it isnt

But you can't seem to understand that just because you do lots of miles & have no accidents doesn't mean this didn't/hasn't/never will happen.

You have not been in every vehicle for every miles driven in this country, your "statements of fact" only cover you & your miles, not relevant.

Well I have done a lot more than you and I have a lot of experience to share but some of you people on here just dont like it when someone has a much clearer understanding of roadcraft.

Your reply could have been "errm - Cliff Richard's first single - reached no 2 in September 1958".

Next question?

I would have said, “if you are in uniform, you can go and direct me across, just give me your badge number”.

Not sure what you're trying to say.
Are you saying emergency vehicles don't come up behind people who are stuck in busy three lane traffic and put their blue lights and sirens on, and you know this because of high mileage and roadcraft?

I'm wasting my time with you if you can't deal with a scenario that happens on the road and then argue with those that do know then your just looking for an argument.

I have already explained the correct procedure to deal with it as taught in preparation for the advanced driving test

The correct procedure, as I pointed out on p2 of this thread, is to indicate left, then when someone makes a gap for you, pull into it.
I'm not looking for an argument, I genuinely don't understand what you mean. You first said it was a non noner, and as likely as being (hit) by a meteor. What do you consider so unlikely, because you're now referring to 'a scenario that happens on the road'? I'm just trying to understand what you mean. Also, where exactly have you "already explained the correct procedure as taught in preparation for the advanced driving test" because I've looked through your posts and can't see it anywhere.

I travel around variable limit motorways on blue lights all the time in varying levels of traffic and 99.9% of the time people don't move because they haven't seen me, they're blissfully unaware of the brightly coloured, LED festooned vehicle making lots of noise behind them. Crap observations, often confirmed by the fact everyone in front of them has already moved and they don't even realise.

When people seen me, they just indicate left and get let in, that happens without issue at all as the cars doing the 'letting in' have also me also seen me.

No need to speed up or even stop, which is what some morons decide to do in L3. Just signal, wait for it to be safe to move over and just get on with it.

I think you will find we are all wasting our time with you!

We all (pretty much, most have said the same anyway) know the correct procedure but then you spark up saying (in some cryptic language) that it will never happen, or something meaning something like that & then berate everyone because you do 27,000,000 miles a month which makes you a driving god.

Well done you, you are amazing, I wish I could be like you. bowbowbowbow

I see this happen so often. I wish the blue light vehicle was able to ram them out of the way.

It scares me that this is how little attention they are paying. Keep them well away from me.

Having thought about this some more, am I correct in assuming that the speed limit is 50MPH and the cameras will enforce this by checking your average speed or is it that the speed limit is an average 50MPH?

The signs suggest the former is true.

In other words (assuming I knew which cameras were paired) I travelled at 30mph for the first half and 70mph for the second half, although I would still have averaged 50mph, by traveling at 70mph for a period, have I still committed an offence?
I find it hard to believe people actually ask questions like this.

What does this sign mean?

Does it mean you can go above 50 MPH part of the time or not?
This sign is always accompanied by an average speed sign on the entrance to the sections in question,.

Indeed, so yes its fine to boot it up to the ton and then stop in a parking bay for a minute to drop the average below 50.
