I had something similar happen to me just outside Lerwick in Shetland, I was cycling along a country road when some old codger took a shot at me with his air rifle, I heard the shot ping off the bike. I just kept going ( a bit faster!) and hoped he wouldn't take any more shots! I didn't report it, though looking back I probably should have.

Yes ya should. Report him, or kick the sh*t out of him, but don't do nothing.

I can see everyones point about hanging this chap out to dry via the law, but how many times have we seen or heard the innocent party either not seeing the outcome they expect/want or not see any result at all when it comes to motoring related incidents... at the end of the day if this guy points a rifle at my car i wouldn't hesitate in pulling up and confronting him.. fair enough take the rifle away from him and dent his motor, but i think a face to face 'chat' would be far more persuasive than threat of legal action (should the chap be a fruit loop that is) !

I think a call to one of the tabloids would certainly help nudge the Police into action. I can think of one or two which would have a field-day with a story about someone being shot at and the Police doing nothing about it in response.

Far worse to have the slow burning candle of British justice cooking him.

Burning candle? More like a damp squib these days it seems.
