Laser detector user fined £2000???

Folks,

I have been told of a chap in the South West who has apparently been fined circa £2000 for using a laser detector.

I am /was of the opinion that detectors have not yet been banned though Nu-Lab did announce their intention to do so before the election.

As far as I am aware they have not yet been banned though the use of a laser jammer could lead to prosection for attempting to pervert the course of justice or something similar

Anyone got up to date information? Should he be fined for using a detector?

They ARE still legal.

The bill got dropped before the close of last parliment and hasnt been reintroduced yet

Perhaps the gent was caught in France? (where detectors are illegal)
Apparently, a UK driver was fined £2000 for just such an offence.

Yep, if this was the UK then it was a jammer, in France it could have been due to the driver not burning a sheep in the last calendar year
