Further to this thread;

Daily Post had report yesterday to say that N Wales police will not reveal the alleged new threholds at which we will be prosecuted for speed limit offences because:

"It is considered that the public interest in disclosing force speeding thresholds is outweighed by the potential consequences to law enforcement and the impact of such a release on road safety measures and the safety of the public at large" Ends.

This would only be valid if they could show any safety benefit whatsoever attaching to the cameras.

...wouldn't they just love to be able to hide in bushes, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them fantasise about "blacking-up" and donning full camoflage combat gear, just to increase their hit rate. Not all of them of course, but some of them no doubt...

In other words - do not be surprised if they do not adhere to ACPO guidelines und prosecute for 1mph blip. They'd do better if their BiB stopped using mobile phones und refrained from reversing into other cars und people But then - they need the cash to pay the increased premiums and compensations no doubt. Speed course ist fine so long as it invite correct target who needs it. 1-4 mph blip makes money from people who are probably the ones have never had accident und careful not to have too.

Thresholds have always been ridiculous; why should we expect to be able to breach the limit by different amounts depending on which part of the country we're in?

Just treat the threshold above which you might get caught as the speed limit, which at least gives some consistency.

Have stopped going there on weekend breaks, mountainbiking trips, road trips, etc. Plenty of other driver friendly places about that won't have you losing your licence for paying attention to the road ahead.

With the coming of the Freedom of Information Act, the pratnerships agreed among themselves that trigger speeds would never be disclosed....

They are able to do this under an exemption written into the Act on the grounds of compromising operations.....

I actually asked destroyer about this (if they would disclose information that would help keep speeds down to prevent accidents yet reduce partnership revenue) and he said that they would release all accounts information. WTF? Later he said they wouldn't release any info that would compromise operations.

The FOI act is meaningles for SCPs as they can just say that info is operationally sensitive therefore they won't release it.
