You know having seen what happened at Newchurch with the ALF mob, I wonder if the "war on terror" will extend in ALF's direction or will there be discrimination there too.

All animals and terrorists are equal, but some are more equal than others.

Protect us from this madness
By Bruce Anderson
SOMETIMES one despairs of the police. In their attempts to prevent Oxford University from opening laboratories in which tests on animals will be carried out, the terrorists of the Animal Liberation Front (ALF)are threatening builders and decorators who do work for the university. There have already been attacks on college property. ALF is now virtually ready to attack anyone and anything connected with Oxford.

Similar tactics have already brought the animal terrorists a degree of success. The completion of the new laboratories has been delayed because one contractor pulled out when its shareholders were threatened. A nursery-school group, Leapfrog, felt compelled to stop supplying childcare vouchers to Huntingdon Life Sciences after ALF announced that its nursery schools could come under attack.

One might have thought that a terrorist organisation which targeted toddlers would instantly attract revulsion, condemnation and ruthless pursuit. Not so. Instead, it has attracted hand-wringing. In response to the latest threats in Oxford, a police spokesman said: “Although everyone is entitled to an opinion about this very emotive issue, it is just not acceptable to act in a way which intimidates other people and threatens their livelihood.”

What pathetic, spineless, weak-minded, politically correct garbage. In the face of terrorist threats, how dare any police spokesman use language so feeble that it would disgrace a talking bath sponge. “Very emotive issue”; there is indeed a very emotive issue. It is the abject failure of the Oxford police — and other forces — to do their job, to justify the immense resources that they consume, and to protect the public from the animal terrorists.

When terrorists threaten decent citizens, we do not want police spokesmen to remind us that the terrorists’ supporters and apologists are entitled to freedom of speech. We want spokesmen to condemn, unequivocally; to remind the terrorists, plus those who abet them, of the long years and decades of imprisonment to which they will be liable; to reassure those under threat that everything possible is being done to hunt down the evil-doers.

“Just not acceptable”; we already knew that. What is just not acceptable is for police spokesmen to sound as if they would be incapable of controlling a game of leapfrog in the Leapfrog nursery school.

ALF should be followed as are the so-called terrorists after 7/7...they're a bunch of criminals who should be put in a sack and thrown in the Thames....as are all mad dogs and excess cats.....

Would ALF be covered by the "glorification of terrorism" clause in Tony's new bill? It would be nice to think so, if it's going to be any use at all.

Don't hold your breath, I'm pretty sure these new laws will only apply to people suspected of being slightly khaki coloured.

If they had as much respect for their fellow man as they profess to have for animals (und I do doubt this as truest animal lover does not harm, attempt to kill, steal bodies, cause anguish und try to force another to below a poverty line, or threaten anyone else going about their business or to a nursery school) - then one could accept their point of view.

Animal testing is unreliable. When under pressure, rats get confused and give the wrong answers!
