Speedy Santa banned from harbour
Santa has been banned from arriving at a harbour on water skis this Christmas because it is deemed unsafe.
About 3,000 people turned out to see him last year at Wells-next-the-Sea in north Norfolk.
But harbourmaster Bob Smith said the stunt had been ruled out on safety grounds and following complaints about his speeding.
Mr Smith said that harbour users were angry that Santa was allowed to break the harbour speed limit of five knots.
'Commissioners resolute'
He said: "We had complaints from other harbour users.
"People were saying 'we are not allowed to go through the harbour at 16 knots, but you allow Santa to do it."
The event was organised last year by the Wells Business Forum.
Forum chairman Peter Rainsford said the decision was made by the harbour commissioners.
"We tried to intervene on Santa's behalf but the commissioners were resolute.
"He had hoped to arrive in Wells on water skis this year but his mode of transport raised problems.
"Santa could not convince the harbour masters to allow him to ski, but we are assured that he will be arriving at the harbour this year by sea."

TED, why can't the full web link be displayed?
Whinger said "If I can't do it, why should he?"
Are these the same people you see travelling under the speed limit while hogging lane 2/3 on motorways?
