Whilst driving home yesterday in shocking weather - 80mph gusts and rain- I noticed how inadaquete the road signs were.
For example, SLOW on the road surface warning of a corner. Most of the corners I came across with this warning can easily be negotiated at NSL + in a modern car, even in the poor weather.
Speed camera warnings - there is none, but it does let you know a reasonable O/taking zone is coming up, they are however distracting.
One thing missing that i would have appreciated was a warning about the poor surface approaching.
Several times as i was starting to turn in my car was upset by very short sharp bumps in the road that were near impossible to spot.
these bumps are a much bigger problem for modern cars with lower profile tyres and firm damping and were far more likely to cause me grief than any bend, which i can see.

Slight o/t, this new stuff they are using to patch up roads is rubbish, in the wet you can feel the difference as you move from tarmac to crap mac.

SLOW on the road surface is often quite useful I find, perhaps because it is old enough to date from more sensible times. While many of them are redundant, a not insignificant number indicate the presence of some additional hazard, such as an unsighted junction just round the bend, or a bend that tightens as you go round.

What does me off is the more modern technique of deciding that since a particular bend can be negotiated with a crap car with bald tyres at a maximum speed of something over 40mph in the wet, and then applying a 40mph limit for a mile either side of it...
