The M275 was always designed to have a junction at Tipner, apparently a lot of it is in place:

Err, not quite, because a 3 lane DC was never a motorway.....
There's a saying that goes something like "if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is a duck".
In the same way, I was saying that a 3-lane carriageway with armco on either side, a hard shoulder, slip roads on and off and indistinguishable from a motorway in all respects other than green signs rather than blue, is a motorway in all but name.

Therefore,
Q: When is a motorway not a motorway?
A: When it is a 3-lane dual carriageway as mentioned above (and/or it quacks).

The M23 past Gatwick officially ends at Pease Pottage but you wouldn't know it unless you noticed the change in the colour of the signage. It quacks along for another mile or two at motorway standard before narrowing down to two lanes.

Which is the motorway (M621?) in Leeds which has an exit/entry slip road from lane 3.

Do you not mean this insanity on the M60 Manchester ring road?

No I think I'm referring to this insanity on other side of Pennines

Although the M61/M621/A650 Gildersome interchange on that website you linked to is almost as barmy. Interesting site that one by the way.

And the sneakiest speed camera in the country is on a 50mph section of the M11 IIRC

Where that then?
Southbound, just as the M11 reduces down to two lanes, as it is about to join the A406 North Circular.

I think it had the distinction of being the most profitable camera in the country.

Halfway down the page ;
www.abd.org.uk/cameras/essex.htm
I know it well (thankfully have never been caught by it.)

Difficult, as alot of people go through it at way over the limit, so it is reasonable to assume it is not active. However, this is a main route into East London, and the proportion of vehicles with duff registration details in this area is massive.

Hence, the Local Boyz carry on with impunity while everyone else is stuffed.

Oli.

The one at the beginning of the 50 zone is very well known. The new ones further down seem to be getting quite a few people though. Everyone used to slow down for the first and then speed up again, now they have 2 more cameras round the corner seemingly put there to stop that happening.

As for the A102M that has an alternating 40 to 50 to 40 limit which is bloody annoying - it goes from 40 out of the Blackwall tunnel to 50 as you head past Hackney Marshes and then back down to 40 before you turn off to the M11. Cameras at every change in speed naturally...

M275 actually joins what becomes a 4 lane dual carriageway that I was taken down during my driving test.
