hi, i cant remember if this has been covered before or not, i had a speed gun pointed at either me or the car in front of me today, just before the junction i turned off at, i carried on and pulled off and wasnt stopped or anything, do they need to stop you on the spot or have someone to pull you over up the road if they detect speeding with a hand held speed gun or can they send you a letter?

edited to add sorry for posting 2 threads my computer is playing up again and i wasn sure if it posted or not.

It depends how fast you were going and how much breaking the limit.

The only sure way to know for sure is wait 15 days to see if you get nasty letter in post.

If it was a police patrol vehicle normally they would have stopped you, but you will just have to wait and see.

surely i could just deny it if they sent a letter because they have no way of showing me the readout on the speed gun and no way to prove it was me they pointed it at anyway? as they just give a digital readout of speed as oposed to video, so wouldnt it be my word against thiers?

It depends if the police have it on video. You will not be able to know this when driving past.
