I apllied for a replacement Driving Licence a while ago and have just got it back today, the old one was a paper Licence and the new one is a Photocard Licence, so what you say?, well I have just noticed I have lost 2 groups from it!, there is no mention anymore of my entitlement to Ride either motorcycles or Drive HGV's as before (I passed both these tests years ago in the middle 1970's!), will the DVLA have records of these test passes as they were taken so long ago?

There was an article in MCN a while back about this, apparently several bikers had done the same and when their licences were returned the bike entitlement was missing and one had HGV added!

The conclusion was it's up to you to prove you had those entitlements (should have photocopied your old licence) one of the guys who lost his bike entitlement and had to retake his test was an active Bike Cop FFS!

And they run ANPR on the info given by these clowns?

no way will I ever take a test I already passed!, it's innocent till proven Guilty here too still by the way!!, otherwise it's known as "Corpus Juris"!, the onus is fairly and squarly on them to prove I am not entitled, till then I shall carry on Driving!

The DVLA keep old licences for three months. Get in touch with them ASAP to resolve it before the incompetent tts remove your entitlement permanently.

According to watchdog, even a photocopy of your original is no use as they'll claim it's a forgery.

Beware of dissing the welsh, after the Police spending several thousand pounds (of English money more than likely) investigating complaints made about Anne Robinson's comments about the welsh, apparently (listening to radio 4 on Tuesday morning), they are now investigating remarks that Tony Blair made in a private discussion. (From what I gathered, they were in memoirs, notes or diaries from one of his chums - I was not fully listening so cannot recall the exact circumstances).

Phone them up and chase it up. The longer you leave it the harder it will be to sort it out.

Unfortunately the emphasis is on you to prove you had the entitlement

Plod will correct me if I am wrong but I believe that if you explain the situation you can be given an extension on the seven days for your producer.

We cant give an extension as the law is seven days.

One of 2 things could happen, BiB couild do a full driving license check via PNC and eliminate the requirement to produce.

Or you are still given a producer and take what you have to the police station, you are reported for driving otherwise in accordance with a license and when the license turns up, you produce it.

Both will mean no trouble as when people fail to produce i get copies of the driving license print and NFA is taken in respect of the D/L if it is legit. Only possibility is reported for failing to produce within 7 days but if other docs have been produced then this will be very unlikely to happen

got my Licence back on Friday (been away) and it still has the same two groups missing and I am still driving and will continue to do so as it's their own incompetence all of this and I need my bike to work, do they not realise it's affecting my ability to work!(I work shifts 20 miles away and there is absolutely no alternative but my bike to get to work!)

Should I now give up work or risk Driving without the correct Licence?

Makes it tempting to change jobs and join the Nu Labour bureau-force (good pay rises I hear) and then explain that you can;t legally get into work due to the incompetence of another govt. department.

Should prove worthwhile - have a few weeks at home while they keep bouncing your licence back and forth. I'm sure whoever you worked for would understand - unlikely they would kick up a fuss, someone might look at their output and accuracy as well!

Still, it all gives one hope that the govt. systems will collapse in a big heap if put under a little pressure.

You're not in IT by any chance are you? You could get a job involved with fixing the problem but never fix it since you can't get to work ... er, sorry, flight of fancy there. If you didn't travel for a few days you would be noticed as absent from the cctv monitoring network and they would probably assume you had died or something and delete all your records thus making you a non-person.

But I guess they would still be paying you anyway so you could be on to a good thing.

no I am not being paid as I cannot work at the moment, anyway today I have been Dismissed from work therefore so far the DVLA have cost me my job of 12 years, loss of use of my Motorcycle needed to find another job and if they don't sort it out soon loss of my House as I can't even pay the Mortgage at the moment either, OH and to cap it all I rang the jobcentre today and they said I can't claim jobseekers allowance as with whats happened in my case is classed as giving up my job voluntarily

Good these Government databases arent they?
