Quickie Q - Scamera vans.............

Is it a question of if you see it, it's already too late, or do these cameras work an area of ground relatively close to the vehicle. It's just I was on the A31 Hogs Back today where they have the blasted vans now, I was doing about 65mph in a 60 and saw the van in the distance, just wanted to know do they put these things on max range to 'get you'

They seem to 'clock' at up to about 800m.
However, if your speedo was reading 65 you were probably only doing about 62, so you will be safe.

At an indicated 65 in a 60 I'd have thought you would be OK, whatever.

In some places, they're able to hide the vans so that you have little chance of reacting if you're over the limit, they'll get you before you see them.

Gatsos don't seem so bad, now...
