saw my first sticker today
it was a fixed to a honda accord driven by an oap and he was doing 25 through knutsford
rather streriotypical but there we are
Why is the fact that he was an OAP in any way significant. I'm an OAP and just hate being stereotyped in this way.
In fact, get yourself an 'Enduro Formula' Rally car or a fully prepped Cooper 'S' Historic, come out and compete against me and I'll probably just 'wup your ass!
Sorry, but being labelled in this way really p****s me right off.

Have you noticed how old codgers are really grumpy, too?
I'm Mr. Grumpy today, but this evening I think I'll go out and give my Cooper 'S' a blast around the lanes as soon as it gets dark. Then I won't be grumpy, unless I blow it up, of course, which is always possible with the state of tune of the 1310cc engine!

Dont feel bad Cooperman, be happy to be the exception to the rule - well, obviously the exception to the rule about OAP drivers, not the one about OAP's being grumpy old sods

I was taking my 11-year old grandson home recently and, on a B road came up behing a slowly driven Ford Galaxie. I said something about 'shouldn't be on the road if the old twit can't do better than 45 mph. After using my 'steptronic' to its full and passing the old geezer into a long open 90 degree right my grandson was laughing. I asked him why and he said "he's younger that you are". I asked if, perhaps, I should slow down and drive like that. "Oh, no, says my young buddy, you're just an ACE grandad!". For me that said it all and I did feel quite proud. A young chap in our vilage who has done some motor sport wants to get into rallying and has asked me to coach him on loose surface techniques, which I'll be pleased to do.

Oh don't worry about it Peter. You're OK and I'm OK - and what do these young upstarts know anyhow? Give 'em another thirty years and then they might feel differently.
Best wishes all,
Dave.

Next major event for me will probably be the Yorkshire Enduro Rally in early September. See you there?
