Not very interesting I'm afraid, but just a bit of clarification needed.

Car is parked with a residents parking permit legally. Along come the local parking monkeys and put up a yellow sign stating no parking between this date and this date.

Car stays in it's bay as noone is at home to know this sign has been put up, then this morning the car gets taken away. Should there be a fine to pay even though the car was already there, or will it be a case of proving the car was already there. Would the council be obliged to take a photo of the space when the sign is put up to show what is in the space?

This is a big subject for discussion in our locla council elections.

My view is that they are within their rights to move your car to get work done, but liable for any damage and the imposition of a fine is an unenforceable outrage. If this happens to me, I will use the courts to get my car back. There is no way I would pay a fine for this.

Sounds like the fine is payable to me. They can pretty much do anything with these spaces. Might need to show that there was a reasonable chance of spotting the sign.

Might come down to what the parking adjudicator feels is appropriate...

How long were the signs up before the car was taken?

Councils can suspend parking in a bay and usually put up notices to that effect some days in advance. They usually warn to check daily.

After sign put up and if vehicle parked in suspended bay then regret its a PCN and even vehicle removal and all that entails.

Thanks for the replys.

Signs were put up Friday or Saturday, car moved this morning. Not my car btw, a neighbour of mine who was with her family for Easter, I think she's back tomorrow.

Interested to see where we'd stand in this situation.

Thanks again.
