Driving later to Wales from London on M4. Are there any cameras - fixed or otherwise?

Thanks in advance.

Can I suggest a brief look amongst other topics might turn up one with 'M4' and 'camera' in it!!

Nothing in Thames Valley, then Talivans jc14-jc18. Talivans around Severn Bridge toll plaza (reduced limit) and then everywhere in South Wales.

Don't speed in Wales - you will be shot!

Too true!!!!

I think the long-term aim to replace the Dragon on the 'Welcome to Wales' signs with a Camera symbol

well maybe not shot, just arse raped by the South Wales Scamerati!

The M4 in Wales is a nighmare and pretty much every bridge over the motorway is shown up as a possible Scam van site by my Snooper. A regular one is right after the bridge over the Avon before the tolls where there is a fairly new 50mph limit. Some piece of scrotal discharge often sits in a van there collecting.

I had a very pleasant long weekend in Wales over Easter, and I don't recall any acts of forced buggery - by the SCP or otherwise.

Perhaps you should consider changing your aftershave if you find this is a persistent problem?

Heh Heh. most amusing…

Anyway its known as a metaphor… and maybe if on your jolly weekend away you were to have driven the Welsh parts of the M4 at speeds that while marginally in excess of the posted limit would be deemed ‘acceptable’ in most parts of the country you would feel the same way.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Wales and spend a lot of time there but the Scamera Partnership are certainly no asset to the area.

It seems that the feeling is mutual...

Since I drove from London to St David's, I had a lot of opportunity to drive on the M4. I saw no evidence of speed enforcement from Wiltshire, nor South Wales, other than a few fixed camera which are rather obvious. Nothing sneaky going on there.

Given how publicised the enforcement there is, it seems to be more bark than bite. I did see two trafpol patrolling.

In fact in four days driving around most of Wales, I saw only one camera van, and very few fixed cameras. I've no idea how strict a level of enforcement they were pursuing, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't 1mph over the limit. It didn't strike me as a particularly dangerous section of road.

Just past jnct 19 (for Bristol M32) there are a couple of gatsos, along with several redundant sets of white speed measurement lines that still cause panic braking even though the cameras aren't there any more.

Wouldn't have said they are everywhere in SW but make sure you slow down for the 50 limit after the Severn Bridge (often a scamera van on the bridge just before the tolls). Also keep your eyes peeled for vans on bridges over the M4 after that.

Where abouts in Wales are you headed?
