Agreed crush the cars and massive fines or enforced labour cleaning the streets.
Make them uderstand the driving is a privilege and that if you are going to drive then do it properly. If public transport needs to be updated then do it, but having non insured drivers on the road sucks

One thing that came up in the program that I didn't know is the fact you can get done for criminal damage to your own property. I agree the scrote should have been charged with something (public order, resisting arrest, whatever) but was surprised it was CD.
As has been said, having suffered in the past from an unlicensed, uninsured, multi-disqualified driver, drunk driver it was nice to see the cars taken away and crushed.
Only thing I would question though was the statement that 1100 cars had been taken off the road that way - perhaps 1100 cars have but how many of the drivers of those cars have now bought another banger and are back driving again.
Certainly the chap who hit me made a habit of buying old bangers with a few months tax and MOT on them for a few quid more than the value of the tax and running them until the tax expired.
Makes me agree that the level of punishment imposed is not nearly severe enough.

And what complete nonsense *that* was. OK, the bloke was being an objectionable w*nk*r but I don't see how it's possible to commit criminal damage to your own property. They could reasonably have charged him with obstruction or possession of a dangerous weapon, but CD to his own property? That was just bloodymindedness.
