At the moment, no. It's quite slow to spot and blind/jam the camera which is not an issue if you just want to spoil a "pirate" filming. The system also struggles with moving cameras (which is effectively the same as a stationary camera and the system moving - such as car-mounted).

However there may be more work going into this than just the commercial application reported.

Most CCDs respond quite well to near-infrared light (point a TV remote at your camera phone to see). So a source of near-infrared would be invisible to human road users, but show up as bright white on a digital camera.

Just sayin' ...

My early Fujifilm shows ir easily, but later cameras have ir filters and do not see it.
