Cruise control on = brain off
Cruise control won’t necessarily protect you when you’re going downhill

no, i would disagree with the brain off actually
since having it for three years and 110 000 miles i quiet like it, pain at first but have got used to it, find my observation and anticipation have improved otherwise the system would be off on, off on
makes a boring journey on the m'way more interesting by trying to keep it on and predict traffic better
i do find that at times you seem to be hurtling towards the rear of vehicles and it can be a pain in that you pass someone, they pass you, you pass them etc because your doing a constant speed or thereabouts and they aren't
it is a pain at road works due to the ebb and flow of traffic as they reach the camera and slow down then speed up

on that basis by changing lanes at the right time you could avoid being detected ??
i've heard that said (maybe here) but I wouldn't risk it
I *seriously* doubt that that is true. Technically, there would be no reason for it to be true unless the programmers had deliberately made the system more stupid than it needed to be.

bollox just set cruise to stated speed and (semi) relax.
