Please excuse my ignorance in these matters but I have a NIP for speeding! (my first!) which in the police officers witness statement (typed) my name is mis-splet twice, both times diffrently!
Also at the bottom of the statement the PC has signed the form, but there is no signature for the "Signature witnessed by"

just wondering if there is any grounds for getting off on a technicality??

Thanks,

Ian

Best ask one of the mods to move to SPL (speed, plod, & law) forum - you'll get the necessary info from the members who frequent that section regularly.
By the sounds of it, you might have been handed a GOJF card there.

I'd certainly think that you have got lucky here if there is not witness signature.

You could do worse than contact your citizens advice office.

I'd pleed not guilty, and see where the chips fall - assuming it was a "normal" incident and you weren't doing 150mph down your local highstreet on a Saturday afternoon!

Typos don't affect the prosecution as they are easily remedied. No need to have a signature witnessed if it's a police officer. You can plead not guilty as is your right but you'll probably end up convicted and with a bill for prosecution costs.
