As the topic suggests. I just had a call from a lorry driver friend to say he has just seen an unmarked 911 carrera 4 in black pull someone over on the M4 near Reading.

A 911 seems a bit of an unnecessarily expensive (and impractical) car to be using. Sorry to sound funny, but I'll wait for proof of some sort...or corroboration!

Interesting! Are you sure? A bit of an extravagant use of taxpayers' money I'd have thought.

Its almost certainly a proceeds of crime act seizure, if it is a polce car.
Our squads use some fairly fancy machinery too that they have taken off drug dealers. I don't see that makes them 'dirty bastards' though.

Only insofar as a device of entrapement, i.e. steaming up behind some other quick machinery is quite likely to provoke a response that would guarantee another kill for the BIB. Not that I'm suggesting they do this of course...

Even if it was free it still incurrs running costs. It could be auctioned off and the proceeds used for twice as many trafpol in Astras. Much better use of resources.

confused

What's forcing you to commit any offence ?
If you are holding up faster traffic behind you just move over when you have a space & it is safe to do so don't you ?

I've never seen any trafpol. hehe

Fair point. But I think if you could replace two 911s, or whatever other cars you are seizing from drug dealers, with three Volvos then that would be better.

Entrapment.
Meaning.......... Catch in a trap(of a police officer)deceive (someone)into committing a crime in order to have them prosecuted.

I suppose saying you weren't forced to do is the standard response.

Unmarked 911 as a devise of entrapment sounds like a good discription to me.

Id be surprised if it was police. We dont have anything like that. Best we have is the V6 Turbo Vectra.

What's the deception ?
You know unmarked cars are out there & you won't know what vehicles they all are.
The car isn't going to force you to do anything illegal. You should just stick to the highway code, which of course you should be fully aware of.

Just maintain lane discipline & let faster traffic pass.

Over time Police use a wide variety. I remember a Porsche years ago & a BMW M3.

And when you are in the overtaking lane and the unmarked car comes up behind you and tailgates you, and in order to get out of the way of the unidentified idiot who is up your backside you accelerate rather than sit there being boxed in...?

Fair enough, But would this not be a case of national roamers rather than force. As the cost to the force being high in maintanance etc?

And what should you do if you think you are being tailgated ?

Speeding up isn't the advice.
