On average around 30% of ALL cars are clocked....and that includes cars on main dealers forecourts....
Source please.
Hi smile

Experience....

If you don't believe me...go to any car dealers forecourt and look and see mileages and notice how many are between 30,000 and 40,000 miles....

Coincidence...lol...I think not....

All the best Brett smile
Oh, the source is you. Also known as "making it up" or "pulling numbers out of your arse".
Hi smile

Very bright I don't think......

I spent a lot of years in the motor trade....you do not believe me thats fine....next time you buy a car thats over 3 years old, please try and remember this posting....

I post in threads where I think I can help readers of the posts with my experience,if you are immature enough to start insulting people then I think that says it all as far as "your" comments are concerned.....

Insulting? Was there any part of the suggestion that you made the figure of 30% up (a.k.a. pulled it out of your arse) that wasn't 100% true?

Hi smile

YES ITS PROBABLY UNTRUE...

To be honest I was being extremely conservative, I think the true figure is MUCH higher...

NO such thing as sold as seen if he is a trader!!

Does NOT matter what invoive states, you still get 6 month warranty. Only exception is when a trader sells to another trader.
Agreed. There is no exception, a trader is bound by the Sale of Goods Act when selling to a consumer.

so what if the car buyer does 80,000 miles a year , the trader has to put his car right for 40,000 miles ???

a trader is supposed to stand the first 30 days ,after that there is no specific length of time, the sale price , age and mileage covered of the sold car will determine how long legally any trader has to stand on. I sold a car to a trading standards officer and thats what he told me anyway. Also a trader is not allowed to sell you a car with known faults or if he knows the mileage is incorrect, you can fire it back at him if he does. Anything put in writing ie an advert needs to be 100% factual, ie if a trader states the mileage in an advert , it has to be genuine.

No, that would/could be wear and tear.

I think someone above has correctly cited the legislation which changed the law to 6 months for any product/item sold by a trader acting in the course of business to a consumer. If there is a fault within six months then it would fall to the dealer to prove/show that the fault was NOT in the car when he sold it.

And yes, any statement made must be true - or else a negligent misstatement may arise. The same is true of answering any questions. The mileage may not be correct BUT the seller must Honestly and Reasonably believe the mileage - i.e. if he had dealer stamps which tied up... If he did, then no liability would attach if it was wrong.

Bear in mind even if he knew the mileage was incorrect, that would not necessarily allow you a refund/return the car either.
