It's legal, and if true, it's yet another slap in the face of the Welsh Tourist Board.

An old mate moved to Denbighshire 2 years ago...every so often he invites me up to visit, and usually mentions how good the roads are. Sadly, from my perspective, it's not worth the risk. Haven't been walking in Snowdonia for a good few years now...

FFS. Why not put this amount of imagination into some real policing, instead of nabbing someone going 10 MPH over the limit, while ignoring the laneswapper who wont indicate triggering an accident in the first place. rolleyes
So true... Last night an elderly lady accross the road from my house must have been in some kind of disstress.. First a care home van turned up followed by a paremedic who couldnt gain access to the house... Then a further 5 Police cars showed full of plod before they could figure out how to smash a window... FFS, how many plod does it take to smash a window?... Answer 10 + a paremedic and a care worker. LOL Surely they should have been catching criminals somewhere!

I hope some Gipsy's hook it up and tow it to their caravan park.

What stops someone from parking a van in front of the trailer to obscure their view, would this be an offence under obstruction.

If the copper inside requires a call of nature and goes outside would that not be urinating in a public place.

I slow down for horses, and PIGS.

This may be completely wide of the mark - the law is not my speciality....

As we all know, Porsche have applied for a judicial review of commie Ken's congestion charge. presumably this is some sort of (and i'm aware of the irony here) "sense check" by the judiciary.

Is this sort of review possible for this type of law change.

We seem to spend a lot of time moaning about things, then moaning that were just moaning and not doing anything.

Shirley pistonheads has a large enough (and well heeled enough) membership to start putting money into a pot to investigate this at least?

"The van is apparently intended for targeting motorbikes, but this suggests it will be placed on roads popular with enthusiasts, where it is sure to snare a few car drivers as well."

Look out for this on the Evo triangle?

This is very true and it would be a travesty if they occured in the same place.

Surely the intention of the policing of speed limits is to stop people speeding. If people don't know they have been caught, they won't slow down. So how can it be a good idea?

Ah I forgot, slowing people down isn't the reason, as we all know.

Because by leaking the "inside information" that the Police are converting horseboxes to cameras, it creates a climate of fear which makes people think "I stand little chance of seeing the camera, so I may as well drive slowly everywhere".

I was caught a few years ago by mobile-laser-plod at 480m distance. I was unable to spot a bloke with a tripod half a kilometer away whilst dealing with normal A-road driving hazards at 99mph, even on a straight road in good conditions. So now I drive more slowly.

Whats with the torrent of vitriol? It is pretty easy to stay within the speed limit and so avoid having to worry about getting a fine and points. If you want to blast about the place, the positions of all the fixed cameras are published and you have eyes to see mobiles and pandas - you only have to pay attention.

Does anyone know what the risk assessment is for working in one of the vans?
It is only going to be a matter of time before someone hits one of them in an accident, and then if the occupier is injured, wouldn’t that mean that they wouldn’t be able to use them as it's to much of a risk?

Any more than standing by the road with a tripod, or in the back of a white van?
